"The decision was made at the time because of legal reasons," she said.

"The feedback that both Ben Morton and I had given at the time [was] we did not support the challenge.

"In the end, after consulting with Premier [Mark] McGowan, the Prime Minister understood that we needed to back Western Australia and we withdrew from the challenge.

"The vote was clear, Western Australians very much supported the approach of Mark McGowan," she said.

Begrudging admission from Michaelia Cash that it was the wrong move to undermine McGowan and the voters punished them for it.

Any flooding or fires occur often in WA?

'Maybe there is some use we can put it to outside of a pandemic or a disaster (but) we haven't quite landed on what that is yet,' Mr McGowan said.

'We're seeking feedback from people as to what it can be used for.

'It's not in the heart of the city. So you know, in terms of backpackers or something, it can't really be used for that.'

Work mandates (bar high risk health settings) to be removed in WA. Well done Mr McGowan on some common sense. Hopefully Dan follows.

some places still need mandates.

aged care for example is dealing with major transmission issues right now, adding in unvaxxed and unmasked workers will just make a bad situation worse

That’s why I said “bar high risk settings” neddles. :)

They obviously need to remain.

you are aware most govt mandates are long gone outside those settings?

places like food manufacturing and logistics are employer driven - not govt

Education, food, custodial and meat/seafood all still mandated by law in vic. Should only be healthcare and aged care at this point in my opinion.

i can tell you right now, the food industry will not change s**t. Ive had their managers tell me they are at a corporate level imposing vax mandates since before they were even implemented

and you are beyond stupid if you think opening prisons up to covid is a good idea. its an ohs nightmare on the best of days, and you think encouraging covid to spread within prisons is a good plan?

Yeah sorry, but I’m at the point where I do not believe this vaccine is preventing or stopping spread of covid. Do I want to get into an argument about that right now? Absolutely not, so I will best leave it there.

Unless visitors and guards going to prisons have done a PCR test the day before or on the day of visit, or get tested there at the door on arrival, and have the result there with them, I don’t see how having an unvaccinated guard or visitor makes any difference to stopping covid getting into jails.

stop running to "if its not 100% we should do 0%"

aged care is on rat testing, yet you want PCR for prisons?

JFYI prisons are always a high risk situation because they are living in close personal confinement, have limited mobility, engage in unsafe behaviour, and have massive health issues. Its very similar to aged care, once an infection kicks off in a prison, it genuinely kicks off.

prisons will be one of the last (with aged care and health) to wind down restrictions

Sweet. Remove education, food manufacturing and meat/seafood then.
If food manufacturing businesses still want to personally mandate them like you say, then that’s on them. I wish them no luck.

FFS I have been telling you for months food manufacturing is mandating above what govt do (and still do today).

you do realize if a line is shut down, it takes 3-21 days for some to be completely shut down, fully cleaned (this has to be done whenever a shutdown occurs), and restarted?

If a line has less than the required people to run it, it must be shut down. This is what these companies are trying to prevent - shutting down and causing food shortages

Telling me for months? This is literally the first time I’ve engaged with you about mandates. And if you’ve told me before, it would have been a while ago and you expect me to remember? Cmon Ned, it’s bigfooty.

Smart companies - it’s almost as if they think the vaccine is going to magically remove someone’s chances of catching it! 🤣

Lol multiple is a stretch. And now you are flat out lying. Which isn’t very good of you. Never have I ever said mandates should be removed for aged care or disability services. Never ever argued them.
Hence my original post about McGowan and mentioning high risk settings.

Refuse to engage with liars. Take it somewhere else.

Can be used when there are crises around the world and temporary accomodation needed, can be used for natural disasters. But most importantly - scientists have been warning for years that more virus’ will escape as arctic permafrost melts so next time theres a pandemic we wont have the hq disaster.

McGowan's Emergency Management Amendment (Temporary Cvoid-19 Provisions) Bill 2022 that will likely be passed through very quietly in parliament next Tuesday. It will give a "Covid-19 officer" the ability to seize property and the ability to break into any premises they like without a Warrant. The McGowan appointed WA Governor can call an emergency whenever he likes without consultation or debate (he needs to consult with the Chief Health officer, but he has the freedom to form his on own belief from those conversations - so basically he has the power to call en emergency when he feels like it) This is an Orwellian Bill that is not being mentioned anywhere in our Government friendly "Free" Western corporate media.

You must be so sad that all restrictions are over, everyone is vaccinated, and masks are done.

You said we would be under Socialist rule by now, at the behest of the evil cabal of Jew... errr 'Globalists, Banking families, financiers and Hollywood elites'

You cookers turned out to be on the wrong side of history on this one.

Where have I said we would be under Socialist rule by now?
If you can't see the power play at work at the moment then you are blind.
The restrictions do appear to be over so why do they need to sneak this type of legislation through parliament giving such Orwellian powers without any checks and balances.
You may be liking where the world is headed but all I see see is more division, more anger and the wealthy and powerful getting richer and trying to gain even more power at the expense of all us "useless eaters".

Here's a good discussion with Liam Bartlett on 6PR.
I don't know how any common sense person couldn't have a problem with this legislation that will be passed tomorrow.
