This is a sensitive area for some. With that in mind, I'm going to remind a few posters a few things:
  • personal attacks are against forum rules. From this point, any attacks that are directed at another poster will be treated with a warning, then infractions and threadbans if it continues.
  • the spread of misinformation is also against the rules. This is taken very seriously by moderation, and you will be asked to support your opinion from time to time. If you cannot satisfy this, you will be provided an opportunity to retract your post; if you do not, you will receive an infraction and a threadban on that basis.
This is a forum for adults, and I'd appreciate you all treating each other appropriately.

Interesting what he say about getting grain out of Odesa ports.
Africa needs this, so maybe Australia will have to help out with shortfall of grain to Africa.
Logistics and cost I not sure about but some travels on road over a month ago made me sure there is lots of grain in Australia that could be sent to ports in South Australia and then onto places like Africa if issues in Odesa not solved anytime soon.

Australian Grain already goes all over the world, the supply tends to be seasonal (i.e. our grain in our harvest season Dec-Mar and from the Ukraine/Canada/US in their harvest season).

Australia has exported all/most of this years' harvest by now (mostly to Asia/middle east). Prices went through the roof, I'm presuming because big companies are stockpiling it in anticipation of shortages in the nth hemisphere harvest. Obviously poor countries don't have the ability to pay inflated prices to stockpile grain, so will be trying to buy during a shortage when prices are even higher.

The fact that Russia has stopped publishing data means they know their economy is going down the toilet. Even worse than their own initial predictions.

They can always deny any reality going forward.

Exports from 20 countries to Russia - Are Imports in Russia!!
This means Russia is not importing german cars, french perfumes - which is a direct result of Western Sanctions
Economically this is only strengthens Russia. Those countries that normally exported to Russia are suffering a reduction in revenue and profits.

Now, if Russian Exports had plummeted to a similar degree that would be bad news for Russia - this is not. It is nonsense to suggest otherwise.

Ah yes. Our resident pro-Russia bot spinning the pro-Russia line.

Hit the Dan Andrews threads, ya nufty.
This thread is about the war in Ukraine started by Putin, against the Ukrainians.
Stay on topic or piss off back to the conspiracy threads where you can knock yourself out with your brainwashed narratives.

Yeah, Russian economy is going to go from strength to strength. They’re going to become a bigger global powerhouse than China…

Too bad they cant import basics to feed their country and need to otherwise become self sufficient. Though they will have most of the population available to work the land after everyone is left unemployed (that is all that is left after the brain drain exiting the country).

At least they have enough vodka to drink themselves to death. Speaking of which you have probably had too much of it yourself with your analysis.

Agree completely but I would ask the antivax nuffies not to close down streets in my suburb and prevent me getting food. I would also ask them to act respectfully to the police and not attack women then boast 'I got that fuc*ing female pig really good'. I also found their 88 tatts disturbing (= Heil Hitler) as well as their baseball bats they were carrying

So yeah, I'd like some civility and respect from these folks.

Note - I got caught in the nuffies protest in Richmond when it turned violent. Events described are from there.

In my opinion Putin (friend of openly communist China) is playing the part of the perfect foil for the globalists (hidden communists) in this conspiracy.

The incarceration data in Russia (based on political activities such as protesting a state endeavour - eg slaughtering the civilians in a neighbouring country - being a news source that doesn't just regurgitate State rhetoric, or even being a competing political party) is summarised here:

Within the site is this ticker feed, which does delve into topics other than anti-war protests, though the vast majority are relevant in this current time.

Example:
Alexander Kapustin brandishes a placard calling for freedom for Sasha Skochilenko (she changed pricetags in a supermarket to include stats from the war to alert average Russians) and other political prisoners, gets detained, and charged ... released with a follow-up hearing.

Example:
Television station TV Rain went to court to challenge the blocking of their channel. They were told they can only exist as a TV Station if they, well, excerpt follows:
n February 24, Roskomnadzor demanded that the media write about the war in Ukraine only with reference to official Russian sources. Also, journalists were forbidden to call the “Russian special operation” an attack, an invasion, or a declaration of war.

That's terrible but lets also not overlook the equally terrible circumstances under which the police were forced to keep the peace - they were obviously forced to wear full riot gear, shields, helmets, carry batons and instructed to fire rubber bullets - this is not something they show you in the police recruitment videos. Many of the police had to have been petrified and many may well still remain traumatised just like your self.

Class action in the wings for the "catastrophe" of the cruiser Moskva/Moscow.

From Novaya Gazeta:

“The commander looked at me, barely restrained his laughter”
Mothers of conscripts who served on the cruiser "Moskva" are offered to recognize their sons as "died as a result of the disaster" - not even a "special operation"

More than a month has passed since the crash of the cruiser Moskva. Until now, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has only once reported on one dead and 27 missing servicemen, although the parents of the sailors, according to their sons, told Novaya Gazeta. Europe” about 40 dead. The number of wounded and evacuees remains unknown. But the parents of the conscripts, who for some unknown reason found themselves among the crew members of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, continue to seek the truth from the command and are going to file a class action lawsuit against the Russian Defense Ministry.

Two mothers of missing sailors told Novaya Gazeta. Europe”, that they were offered to voluntarily recognize their sons as “dead as a result of the catastrophe”. They refused to sign the documents. "New Newspaper. Europe” publishes the story of the conscript’s mother about how the command communicates with the parents and what the wounded servicemen in hospitals say. For security reasons, we do not release names.

- The command met with us after we raised a wave at the very beginning, talking to reporters. We were invited to talk. Who could come to Sevastopol, he met with the commander [of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Igor Osipov personally]. Not one on one, but 10 people were there: representatives of the military prosecutor's office, the city administration, some kind of psychologists. The meeting began the same for everyone: “The cruiser will be recognized as a participant in a special military operation. The guys are all heroes, they will be awarded medals of courage (probably, we are talking about the Orders of Courage - ed.). ”

Before going for a conversation, I called the RF Ministry of Defense and asked about the status of my son. This was after they announced the official figures. I was told that my son was not listed as missing, wounded or dead. She asked what it meant. They answered me: "So he is in the ranks." I come to the conversation, they tell me this introductory word about heroes, military operations, etc. - the main thing is that we ourselves recognize the children as dead.

Explain, I say, why the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not have my son on any list at all? And they report that he is in the ranks. He was so surprised and said that he would clarify why they say that. I ask, is there a possibility that there was a raft somewhere, boats, what carried them away and they could get to another territory? He looked at me, barely restrained his laughter, and said: “No, no, this cannot be.”

The next day I called the Ministry of Defense again. Again they said that he was not on the lists, they listed the lists and added the word “prisoners”.

Further, during a conversation with the command, they tried to prove to me for a long time that the conscripts did not participate in hostilities.

“And Snake Island?” I say. How could he not participate? Half of the crew is involved in hostilities, and half is following them on an excursion?

I ask, was the entire crew present at that time? He says, well, yes, all. So every member of the crew was exposed to what could happen. Everyone was at risk.

From BCh-5 (engine room) several people were missing. To us, parents, the same captain of the 3rd rank tells different stories all the time. He tried to convince me that my child suffocated from the smoke. He told another mother how he personally led people out of the engine room, but two people from this chain in the middle disappeared somewhere and could not find them. I'm saying, as I understand it, there are narrow passages and the next person walking will stumble if someone falls. He nods and agrees.

At the same time, the officers are crying, telling everything in colors. They don't have scratches or burns. They also say that there are no seriously injured. And then someone sits behind and says: “Oh, you should have seen what kind of [wounded] we have in the hospital.”

By May 9, we realized that there was no search operation going on at all. I asked my friend, who also works there, serves. He said, “What search operation? There is no operation at all. We would, in any way, someone let it slip or said. It looks like they were playing for time. They said that a search operation was underway, but we sat down to wait, did not communicate with anyone.

Hospitals don't talk to us at all. When you call them a name from the list, they keep typing on the computer, saying “wait, wait” and leave. Then they come back and say that there is no such thing. At the same time, when I called on the phone, they did not ask me either the name or the date of birth of the child. FSBI "Main Military Clinical Hospital named after Academician N.N. Someone called Burdenko once, while it was possible. They said that there were seriously wounded and unidentified. We assumed so, because according to inquiries, there are those who are heavy, there are those who were carried on a stretcher, they could not walk. There are shrapnel wounds, the head is damaged. There are in such a state that they don’t remember how they got to the hospital at all. And the command claims that there are no wounded at all.

Then notices began to come to us through the military registration and enlistment office: “We regret to inform you that your son has gone missing as a result of the disaster.” And then comes the already drawn up statement, written for me. It says that I admit that my son's body was not found due to the fact that there was a catastrophe. They invite this statement to be signed and say that there are witnesses who saw how the son was on the cruiser that day, but no one saw where he disappeared. I myself don’t have this in my hands, I didn’t even go after him and said that I wouldn’t sign anything. And they call me and say that “three families have already signed an application, also come and write so that they go to court right away so that they don’t drag out for a long time.” I was not even asked if I was ready to sign such a statement that I would voluntarily recognize my son as dead ... Not even dead.

It says "died as a result of the disaster" and it is not spelled out that he is a participant in this operation.

At the end, it says that I will be provided with a lawyer, after which I will apply for insurance. It turns out there is a little more than 7 million. I said that I would not come anywhere.

I phoned my dad alone, his son told him that the military had taken away from them and it was prescribed there that the participant in the “special military operation” and the combatants counted. And we receive a statement without indicating that they are participants in the operation and the dead, it says “dead”. As a man went for bread and disappeared.

The captain of the 3rd rank said: "We have a subscription, but I'll still tell you a secret." I was still surprised that the first person I met told me like this. He said about the rockets and about the fact that they were then kept for five days, there were interrogations, the commission arrived. At the same time, he came out to me so handsome, it’s not clear that he spent five sleepless nights, although he said that he was only released today. I have a child when he came out of the cruiser sometimes, he was just tired, tortured. He was already thinking about when this term of service would end in order to forget about it forever. Apparently on conscripts they went there. He didn't complain, but I could see from him what was going on. And then other parents confirmed that the entire cruiser was supported by conscripts.

As a result, the commander said that there were three missiles: one flew past, two hit. One flew into the engine room, the other, in my opinion, into the dining room. I showed a photo of the guys, he immediately recognized everyone, 500 people in person. BCH-7, BCH-2, BCH-5 - he remembered everyone! He says everyone was, yes, and it's useless to look there.

Slightly wounded boys in hospitals, even with escorts, said that they had a subscription, but they would say that there were two missiles. We decided that it was just a legend, because like a non-disclosure agreement and they tell us all about it? At first, they were confused about the time: someone spoke in the morning [rockets hit], someone in the evening, someone in the afternoon. And then, apparently, a single system emerged among them and everyone called approximately the interval from half past two to three.

They said that during the exercises, even their door jammed. And the guys asked on the intercom to be opened to them. And this time [when the rocket hit], the door jammed too. And they could not get out of there, because there was a lot of smoke and no one was going down after them. They told a story that my son was thrown out the window. Because when the smoke began, the conscripts began to be thrown out through the porthole. But since the water is cold and the cruiser is moving, they could get under the screws and not stay on the water for a long time.

The captain told me that they fought for survivability for a long time, then they realized that everyone was already there, they allowed everyone to jump overboard. The rafts began to drop. Then they lowered their boat from the cruiser. Then I heard another story about the ship that came to rescue. And that the cruiser was not launched, supposedly something broke there.

Everyone has a feeling that the guys are somewhere. Because there are so many inconsistencies. If we were called by the command and told everyone one version ... But what we all faced is out of the question.

Went missing on the high seas and was not a participant in hostilities
Relatives of 19-year-old Mukhammed Murtazaev, who was conscripted for military service on the cruiser Moskva, were also asked to sign documents stating that he was considered to have "died as a result of the disaster." Mohammed's mother, who asked not to be named, made it clear that she would not sign anything.

“When we turned to the leadership of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, they did not give us any answers to our questions, they ignored us,” says the mother of the conscript. - I believe that the command of the Black Sea Fleet, in violation of the charter and other regulatory legal acts, is not fulfilling its obligation to immediately inform the close relatives of a serviceman about his condition. Information about the evacuees from the ship is not provided, which, unambiguously, could be collected in the 40 days that have passed since the day the cruiser was sunk. Eleven days later, on April 24, we were summoned by the command of the Black Sea Fleet for a conversation.

We were informed that my son was on the list of missing servicemen. However, this information was not provided in writing. We also appealed to the Military Commissariat of the Republic of Crimea and on April 29 received a response: “I inform you with regret that your son <…> Mukhammed Serverovich Murtazaev, who was conscripted, went missing as a result of a disaster on the high seas at the GVRKR [ guards missile cruiser] "Moscow" April 13, 2022". Only 10 days after the incident, they realized to create a team to inform relatives, and every day I hear the same memorized text about the fact that the divers descended, passed the site and did not find anyone.

At a meeting with the command, relatives were told that the cruiser was in neutral waters and was not a participant in hostilities.

***

In early May, the military prosecutor's office stated in response to an appeal from Dmitry Shkrebets that his son, Yegor Shkrebets, a conscript, had been declared "missing without a trace" in the military unit. The department claims that the ship, on which Yegor served, "did not enter the territorial waters of Ukraine" and did not participate in a "special military operation." Dmitry writes on his page on VKontakte that during the incident on the ship, the officers were the first to escape.

Ukrainian authorities reported on April 13 that the Russian cruiser had been hit by Neptune missiles. The next day, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the explosion on the cruiser, but stated that the ammunition detonated on board, the sailors were evacuated, and the cruiser itself "retained buoyancy." The Russian ministry then said that the Moskva sank while being towed to Sevastopol in a storm.

Iran now having to drop prices for their gas due to Russia selling it at a deep discount to their customers due to western sanctions.

This after Iranian oil stockpiling due to China buying it off Russia at a knock down price once again due sanctions.

It would be quite some effort for Putin to lose Iran as an ally.

From the "Human Rights Centre / Memorial" :

Per this TG post:
We consider a municipal deputy, who was arrested under the article on spreading “fake news” about the Russian army, a political prisoner

Municipal deputies of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow Alexei Gorinov and Elena Kotyonochkina spoke out against the war with Ukraine at a meeting of the Council of Deputies. A criminal case was opened against them

Human rights project “Support for political prisoners. Memorial”, guided by international criteria {link}, considers Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov a political prisoner, and his colleague Yelena Kotyonochkina illegally prosecuted for political motives. A criminal case was opened against them because of their speech against the war with Ukraine at a meeting of the Council of Deputies. Gorinov and Kotyonochkina are being persecuted in connection with the exercise of the right to freedom of expression, as well as to intimidate all opponents of the war with Ukraine in Russia.

We demand the immediate release of Aleksey Gorinov from custody and an end to the criminal prosecution of Gorinov and Kotyonochkina.

An article describing the circumstances under which Gorinov & Kotyonochnkina were jailed follows.
Five days was enough for the Investigative Committee to start and complete the investigation into the “fake” case about the army, initiated against two municipal deputies of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, Alexei Gorinov and Elena Kotenochkina. According to investigators, they conspired to discredit the Russian army during a five-minute argument about a children's drawing competition - deputies considered it inappropriate during the war, when "children die every day" in Ukraine. Kotenochkina is not in Russia, but Gorinov is in jail. For a five-minute argument, he faces a penalty ranging from 3 million fines to 10 years in prison.

The investigation into the case of Alexei Gorinov, a municipal deputy in the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, took the Investigative Committee only five days - Gorinov was detained on April 26, and the investigation was completed on May 1. Apparently, the investigators worked both on weekends and on holidays.

The reason for the criminal case on "fakes" about the Russian army, initiated against Gorinov and another Mundep, Elena Kotenochkina, was a five-minute discussion of the competition of children's drawings at a meeting of the council of deputies on March 15. Kotenochkina was abroad by the time the case was initiated, but the court sent Gorinov to a pre-trial detention center on April 27.

The investigator suspected the deputies of spreading "fake news" about the army, committed by a group of people by prior agreement and using their official position - and even motivated by political hatred. The maximum penalty for such a crime is 10 years in prison.

Already on May 1, Gorinov was handed a notice of the end of investigative actions. Now the defense is getting acquainted with the materials, his lawyer Sergei Telnov told Mediazone.

According to the indictment, Gorinov and Kotenochkina, “having entered into a criminal conspiracy”, “foreseeing the inevitability and onset of socially dangerous consequences in the form of undermining the authority and discrediting the current government and the armed forces of the Russian Federation”, decided to discredit the Russian troops at the next meeting of the Council of Deputies of the Krasnoselsky District Moscow March 15th. They understood that "they would cause citizens to feel anxiety, fear, anxiety and insecurity from the state."

Acting according to the plan, according to the indictment, Gorinov, during the discussion of the agenda, began to discredit the troops - while he understood that the meeting was broadcast on the official website and YouTube of the council of deputies. The Mundep's statements contained "linguistic and psychological signs of substantiating the need to counteract the use of the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine." Although the YouTube channel of the Krasnoselsky municipal district has only 344 subscribers, there were an unprecedented number of views on the recording of this particular meeting - 43 thousand.

According to Telnov's lawyer, he found only one episode related to the war on this recording. At that moment, Kotenochkina announced the issue of agreeing on a plan for leisure, educational, physical education and health work with the population. The speaker was deputy Gorinov.

“We didn’t consider the commission,” he began, “well, I looked, those who wish can also get acquainted, I think that this plan is not necessary, because what kind of leisure and entertainment can we talk about when we are all now ... everyone has already passed to a qualitatively different way of life. When hostilities are conducted on the territory of a neighboring sovereign state, aggression is carried out from our country.”

Gorinov addresses other deputies: “Tell me, please, what kind of children's drawing competition can we talk about, timed to coincide with Children's Day? And about the organization of dance programs dedicated to Victory Day? When children die every day, I will tell you, for information, that about a hundred children died in Ukraine. Children become orphans, and the grandchildren-great-grandchildren of the participants in the Second World War are now thrown into the hell of these hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. I believe that all the efforts of civil society should be aimed only at stopping the war and withdrawing Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. Now, if the points of the plans were devoted to these issues, then I would vote with pleasure. In this form, I personally will not vote, and then at your discretion.

His colleague on the advice, Alevtina Bazeeva, asks "what prevented the drawing competition." Gorinov replies that "it's some kind of savagery" to see him off during the war. Bazeeva retorts: she considers the abolition of the children's drawing contest to be savagery.

  • “Then let’s have drawings [on the theme] children against the war,” Kotyonochkina laughs.
  • You are somehow obsessed, - replies the disgruntled Bazeeva.
  • In terms of? There is a war, and we are obsessed, - Kotyonochkina is surprised.
  • No, well, what did the competition of children's drawing prevent you from?
  • Feast in Time of Plague! Kotenochkina explains.
— Well, somehow cynical, agree? Gorinov echoes her. - I think this is the main question.
  • What is the main question?
  • Stop the war, withdraw troops from the territory of a neighboring state.

How is this related to drawing?
Everything is connected! Gorin insists.
“They built the Days of Victory, and what it led to - the formation of a fascist state,” adds Kotenochkina.

— Do you mean Ukraine? - Bazeeva clarifies with her.
— Russia. I mean Russia.

Municipal deputy Ilya Yashin intervenes in the conversation.

— Have you been there for a long time, in Ukraine? he asks Bazeeva.
  • Did you just come?
  • Well, not so long ago, about three years ago, and when were you there?

“Yeah, too, probably the same.
Seriously, where were you?

- In Nikolaev, in Odessa. You and I have probably been in different places, you are in Lviv.
— I have never been to Lviv.
- And you were surrounded by the Nazis? - laughs Kotenochkina. - Jewish origin?

As a result, the council decided not to consider the proposed leisure community outreach project at all.

Lawyer Telnov believes that the court will begin to consider the case immediately after the May holidays. According to the lawyer, the case materials were given to him on May 4, and the very next day the court limited the time for familiarization with them until noon on May 6. The decision was justified by the fact that "protection is addictive."

“This is a blatant violation of everything that is possible, and the right to defense, and the right to know what you are accused of, because there is no time even to prepare petitions for the court,” Telnov is indignant.

Politician Ilya Yashin remains in Moscow, in the case of a dispute about children's drawings, he remains a witness.

Excellent info.
Sounds like someone works not too far from this industry.
Hopefully the grain in the ports at Odesa can be shipped to places like Africa soon.
Otherwise it going to be real disaster and Putin will have more deaths as he legacy.

Those countries that normally exported to Russia are suffering a reduction in revenue and profits.

They can export to all the other countries, so idk if it hurts them much. A high profile business like McDonald's would probably lose more business by continuing to operate in Russia.

Now, if Russian Exports had plummeted to a similar degree that would be bad news for Russia

Haven't they? Apart from gas.

If the black sea approaching Odessa has been minded by Ukrainians to prevent Russian landing and as a consequence Cargo Ships are not capable of reaching Odessa to load grain for Africa - because of these mines - isn't this as much Zelensky's and NATO's legacy?

Haven't they? Apart from gas.
By all accounts they have not. The Rouble is now under 60 to the US dollar - 58 over night - having commenced at 73 to the Dollar prior to 24th of February.
The Rouble is by far the strongest performing currency in the year 2022. China and India are importing unprecedented levels of Russian commodities. And the inflationary impact on commodity prices due to the sanctions - means the Russians are flush with a current account surplus and foreign currencies.

Commentators forget that Russia has had a lot of experience dealing with sanctions over the years. There is compelling reasons to believe that on this occasion - for the first time - they have prepared their economy for this. And this time - for the first time - they have fully re-aligned themselves away from the west and to the east.

Domestic inflation in Russia rose sharply in March, stabilised in April and appears to steady in May. The question is now how does Europe's industry - particularly in Germany - cope with sharp energy prices. Can German goods remain competitive against Asian competitors?
