Only 22,000 in the crowd?

WTF
It was a terrible weather crowd

Cold bitter winds and pissy rain pushed in all directions by said wind

Given our position on the ladder then those 10k 'choosers' obviously chose not to go

Watch the club double down on getting 'experience' back

What a waste of time this site has become, predominatly dominated by the most negative , misersable bunch of campaigners I have ever come across. Ukraine anybody .. get a grip
No, I won't have that, we are all so upbeat about how well this rebuild is going, have almost all the high standard players in place, only a handful more needed to be contenders.

Today's game was proof positive of that.

Then we get real and realise how few of the pieces are in place to even make finals, let alone challenge. Additionally, the drafting, team selection and coaching is of a low standard.

Of course we're miserable, we know we have a number of winters of discontent ahead of us as our lives slowly ebb away! We're looking at the future big picture, not a low standard win at home against one of the worse sides in recent times.

But you crack a nice bottle of Grange to celebrate and enjoy the Keays/Laird/Crouch CB wizardry in today's win eh?

Just the usual negative posters who don't know we are still in a rebuild so inconsistency is what happens to a young and rebuild team. Even today we were inconsistent but our best has shown to be good enough as shown from the last 4 games we've loss against the top 6 teams.

Good first half albeit against a woeful opposition. Excruciating second half

Sheesh. You want to see some light at the end of the tunnel but our good football this season has been frantic, effort/intensity based stuff. Minimal class, poise or system.

Every glimmer from the likes of Soligo gets drowned out by the number of scrapper ceiling players that are also becoming regulars and filling the 22.

Will we produce better football in 2023 than what we've seen this season? Hopefully. How...? Maybe Thilthorpe takes a step forward. Berry & Soligo continue their progress. Others? Doesn't feel like there's a whole crop ready to burst to life.

It was a win

Some good signs

Parnell - yeah I want to see more
Soligo - special
Mcadam - continues on
Hately - courage or stupidity

We controlled the game and did enough - and so its disappointing to see those CBAs - but not surprising really.

I'm not sure this club and coaching group understand the opportunities games against this kind of opposition presents. We were expected to win and our 1st half highlighted we should win. So where was the ''forwards go back and backs go forward' thinking?

To give our young guns control of the centre breaks after half time - and we dont. That tells me Nicks and co are so scared of losing and trying things they would rather roll the same tired group through

And by heck it was frigid

Tex, Fog, and McAdam looked great

Did Hately even have one CBA today? Looked like he was stuck on the wing for the entire match

Shocking that both Hately and Dawson are forced out of ideal position when they are 2 of our most promising players moving forward
Pretty sure he was.

Better let the coach know we are in a rebuild

Because he doesnt have the courage to let anybody else but his ' crew' in the middle.

West Coast percentage went up after playing us, a team that has lost by 50+ the last 7 games.

The kid in front of me was shouting "go Adelaide Eagles" then was turning around to look at me to see if I'd react the entire game too, was incredibly frustrating.

Which senior coach won't play their best 2 midfielders there who are still young, especially Keays. Laird has been an AA player while playing in the midfield and Keays will likely be in the AA squad this season. As for Crouch, I assume we are only playing him to get trade value for a contender and will pay his salary next year as a sweetener? We really need to open this midfield spot to continue the rebuild next year and he hasn't shown anything in the SANFL after being drop there for weeks to warrant his return to the AFL. Somewhat understandable last week since Walker was missing so we needed some experience but he should have been dropped again this week since he wasn't that good against Geelong anyway.

Crouch had 19 of a possible 23 CBAs today for 7 contested possessions and 1 clearance.
vs
Berry had 13 of a possible 23 CBAs today for 13 contested possessions and 8 clearances.
Hately had 1 of a possible 23 CBAs today for 8 contested possessions and 3 clearances.

The reckless short-termism of our match committee instead of investing in the long term growth of the playing list is nothing short of embarrassing, not to mention that even if you're chasing a sugar hit, it's becoming hard to defend Crouch as a more impactful on-baller even in the short term. The kids are okay!

Laird and Keays, despite how maligned they are, as always showed up and had a crack. 17 & 16 CPs, 8 & 5 clearances. Sure, they butcher it, but at least they're winning the ball to give each other a chance to turn it over. In Crouch's case, he's not doing that, he's not defending and he sure as shit isn't the bloke you want getting it on the outside. It's beyond the pale.
