He mentioned him after a recent game - Ego, he called him.He mentioned Egan on AFL360 last week
He must be broadly acknowledged now as being a very good prospect for Geelong ... one only has to look at other clubs threads...like the suns for example... and they are calculating how long a deal and how much to offer him to get him to their club. I think we are lucky that appears to be happy and enjoying his time at Geelong. Still contracted but I hope they are monitoring his willingness to extend.
Sign him up before they move him forward when he will be worth much more.
I think upgrading him next year would be fair..if he is performing above what was expected. .. Do RS Nom affect dollars? .. then after that what ever. 1.5M over the following 3 years seems reasonable. Comes out when he is 25 .
They're not moving him forward
He is a potential star very tall player, can mark, kick and good on the ground. It is much easier to get a good tall back to do the job compared to getting a match winning tall forward. That is why such players are on the big money and there are few of them. Of course Geelong will try him out as a forward at some stage. I never said they would do it soon. I have been complaining since the end of the season to the mid season draft that we needed another very tall defender, and that failure to do something could come back to bite us. As for comparable young forwards coming through, there is only Neale who is raw and has played one game. Esava is shorter and is taking his time in coming through.
True. I should have been clearer. I meant get him on a long generous deal now rather than a shorter deal during which he will be tried as a forward and if successful, his market value will increase substantially by the next renewal.

Yes. I meant to say that in the future, not this season, he will be moved forward to see how he goes, and if successful, he will be worth a lot more. But he is out of contract this year I believe, so I hope they offer a lot to get a long contract. Wasn't he moved forward in the last quarter in the Pies match? If behind in the last in a final, they might repeat it.

SDK is contracted for another year, and there's no reason to throw him forward
And he was thrown forward against Collingwood, but that was also after Ratugolea was subbed out, and allowed us to keep a similar structure to what we'd been playing until that stage - since that match we've changed our structure, and not sure we'll necessarily be looking at throwing him forward any time soon, unless absolutely necessary like both Cameron & Hawkins going down in the same match
Right now, observing how he's going as a KPD, I don't get see why there would be any consideration to move him forward - he's looking an AA level defender, and they aren't exactly easy to find. He's only going to improve, and when you've got a youngster like SDK who can lock down an end for the next 10 years, you don't play around with the sort of thing
He did say himself that he hopes that he has not to be written off as a forward, maybe when Tom is gone he mite get the odd game forward

He could if we wanted him to but he is such a good defender we'd be silly to do it unless something on our list balance changes immensely
