I don't get interstate nuffies, your team begs to join a Victorian league, you jump on the bandwagon, then you complain that they joined a Victorian league.
Vic nuffies are hard to get too, sometimes. The comp has been "AFL" since 1990. Thought "Australian" means "Australian" doesn't it? Since 1990, in what way is it a "Victorian league"? And what teams, if any, ever wanted to join a "Vic league"?

Frydenberg became Treasurer on 24 August 2018.

He racked up a 750 billion dollar debt between then and COVID did he?

I'm an ALP/ Greens voter, but you you blokes at least be a little objective here?
That wasn't the point I was arguing - he completely mismanaged the economy during his time as Treasurer. Frydenberg increased the debt by about $150b prior to COVID. Not to mention dozens of billions of dollars wasted in misattributed JobKeeper funds after being warned by the ATO, continuous declines in growth rates under his watch, failures to fast-track infrastructure projects in 2019 that would have helped stimulate the economy, and more failings.

His track record prior to COVID was s**t, and his track record throughout the pandemic was s**t.

Frydenberg presents well, is an excellent tennis player and gets points as a Carlton supporter, but you’d hardly call him a standout Treasurer.

Agreed with the COVID money handouts, but his department miscalculated by almost $70 billion (double) and that speaks volumes. His hands are all over the failed dodgy car park rorts affair, he budgeted $16 billion dollar in unallocated funding just months before an election (you don’t have to read much between the lines for that one), he tried to disempower shareholders and empower directors through his failed Proxy Advisor laws, and managed to lose the safest Liberal seat in the country - Kooyong, that was held by Menzies.

Surely there are better candidates?

And please don’t say he is academically well qualified, am very aware of that as I was in the same year as him at law school - an academic record means nothing if you’re making decisions as a CEO.

So they didnt introduce legislation? It just sorta happened without any change to any laws?
The change to the laws just sorta happened after the unnecessary and divisive plebiscite

They could have just sorta changed the laws without the revolting plebiscite

But that wouldn't have been any fun huh?

Actually the Plebiscite stops anyone from saying it was an unrepresentative change. Now everyone knows that the majority wanted it and the majority got what they wanted.

Frydenberg was one of the Liberals pushing to introduce the vote, BTW.

Gee, I was under the impression we had the first budget surplus for decades pre-pandemic - or was this more media BS..?
No - you got completely sucked in by the spin.

The so-called surplus was a projected surplus in future years based on made-up figures that were never going to happen. The LNP were running up massive debt and the Murcdoch/Costello media were feeding crap to the public who believed it.

Hes Jewish and his mum was a Holocaust survivor.

I highly doubt he supports 'final solution' Anning on any level.

Tim Wilson has sex with men. It hasn't stopped him aligning with a party that has openly persecuted homosexuals through a divisive plebiscite when any poll had shown 60+% support for gay marriage every time, dozens of times, for over a decade, as well as trying to pass legislation to allow Christian schools expel homosexuals. Frydenberg probably thinks Fraser Anning is a dog c8nt. Having said that, he never rocked the boat, he never spoke out, he went out and defended everything the LNP did despite it being a 'broad church' where people like Bernadi could call Muslims criminals and never do wells and Christensen could say whatever he liked. The little 'l' liberals aren't a thing anymore. Howard maintained discipline and anyone who embarrassed him got the pointy end of a blade. Abbott let all the crazies loose, but there were still a few moderates, like Bishop, Hockey, Pyne who pushed back. All the moderates are gone now, that's why there are so many teals and so many female MPs resigning from the LNP.

If there are any moderates left, they are completely spineless, unwilling to speak out, lest they be purged and taken off the gravy train.

Luckily Gil is negotiating the next rights deal, otherwise in true LNP fashion Joshy Boy will curtail to every one of Uncle Rupert's demands and there will be no footy on FTA, just every game on Kayo/Fox.
Joshy would probably give away the rights and set it that the games can only be watched on TV's purchased at Harvey Norman.

The plebiscite was a stalling tactic introduced to try and stop debate about same sex marriage by the relious extremists in the Liberal Party - it's purpose was to prevent same sex marriage from coming in.

I've read a lot of your posts on here - you are obviously intelligent enough to know this, and I guarantee you know the LNP did everything they could to stop gay rights - they've pretty much been on the wrong side of history for the past 60 years.

I'd put money on you being a Victorian Young Liberal - probably the grubbiest cesspool of entitled sniveling pricks in the country.

i like how a 'moderate' liberal is a person who thinks segments of society should be able to be ostracised, discriminated against and just generally insulted in the name of 'freedom'. as if the freedom to make someone elses life significantly worse just because you feel like it is in any way reasonable.

Bruh, no Labor government had ever been in favour of gay marriage, nor had the Greens ever made it a condition for support for the Labor party.

The Liberals are the ones who made it legal. And changed a number of other laws around rights for gay couples.
Oh My God Reaction GIF by reactionseditor

In December 2011, the Labor Party’s platform was amended to support same-sex marriage, but to allow Labor MPs to have a conscience vote on the issue. Kevin Rudd reversed his opposition to gay marriage in May 2013, shortly before regaining the Labor leadership. During the election campaign, Rudd promised that if re-elected, his Government would introduce marriage equality legislation within one hundred days of taking office, and Labor MPs would be allowed a conscience vote on the issue.

Tony Abbott has traditionally opposed same-sex marriage, and in the 2012 parliamentary debates on the same-sex marriage Bills, Coalition MPs were not allowed a conscience vote. In the election campaign, Abbott reaffirmed that he would not support legislation to allow gay marriage.

and then blame a labor government (which had to lead during the worst global economic crisis since the great depression) from 10 years ago

You think the global financial crisis was bigger than COVID ?

Im pretty sure the impact of COVID would be classed as "far worse" not just "worse". Particularly for Australia because we were not that affected by the GFC because our banks were late to the sub-prime mortgage funtimes so were nowhere near as exposed to the enormous losses.

You realise Macquarie Bank and a couple of regional banks were less than a week away from going under during the GFC? That's why they lobbied Rudd that weekend to come out and guarantee the Australian banks. To his credit he did so and saved them. Just a domino effect.

No. The banking industry nearly collapsed when the govt were going to give partial guarantees to some banks which would have seen a massive run on all other financial institutions.

Its showed they simply had zero clue how finance works.
