The game saw a metro audience of 1.771 million viewers tune in. Nine also had the largest network share and won primary channel share for Wednesday night’s TV viewing.

It was down 50,000 on previous years on FTA and they are the ones that still pay big bucks to broadcast the matches and if they keep bleeding hundreds of thousands of viewers to steaming services like Kayo those big bucks will come down!

1st December at 2am v Denmark.

I dont think anything major is clashing with those dates.

Good bit of revenue for the sport on top of the good PR.

Just stumbled upon the NRL subreddit and it is the most insecure thing ever. Constant complaining about the AFL and how Melbournians don't like sport because they don't follow rugby - without consideration that none of Tasmania, WA, SA give a * about rugby either lol

Would struggle to win a game in any one of the other 7 groups. Thats the WC for most teams.

Certainly true for those ranked in the 4th quartile, such as Australia, Qatar and the Saudis, etc.
Interestingly, of the three, only Australia has two European nations in their group.
The Saudis have Argentina, Mexico and Poland, and I reckon they are a chance of taking a point somewhere along the line, as Australia will.
Qatar was seeded in the top quartile as host nation, and they have Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands, all of whom will be rubbing their hands at an easy 3 points.

If you look at the last few WC's, sides have advanced out of the group stage with only 1 win from 3 games and with 1 or 2 draws. So the majority of sides only win 1 game or 0. Nothing really new in this. Upsets happen at the WC and its a struggle early on for basically everyone outside the top half a dozen sides.

LOL, just goes to show how over rated the NRL is in its Sydney heartland when the Storm have the highest membership numbers!

The NRL appears to be on track to have its best average attendances in 10 years. It's still small beer, but in the context of their game, it's pretty good, and the Storm are doing quite well, as they have done for 25 years now.

Isn't that the case every year at this time? Then winter hits, Origin decimates some teams and crowds turn to s**t.

Rugby league often has a terrible habit of rarely missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity. It can be its own worst enemy with its unwillingness to invest in itself and self-interest has cut it off at the knees more than once.

But in the revitalisation of international rugby league over the past decade, the game has been handed lightning in a bottle. It's landed on something special, almost totally by chance.

With the World Cup at season's end sure to generate more momentum and the representative weekend disappearing from the calendar next year, the powers that be must make finding room for Test matches a mandatory part of planning the schedule.

They have a mix of skill and spectacle that can be impossible to ignore, if only people are given the chance to see it.'

It’s a shame they don’t use the bump in rectangular seating. Especially since the Wallabies are playing next Saturday before the next AFL game is played on Sunday.

Pretty sure they don't use them because it screws up the surface - this would especially be the case in winter. Funnily enough if you have a look at ticketmaster for the Wallabies game tonight they're in place in the stadium map, but no seats are available despite being plenty of seats available in the rest of the ground. So I doubt they'll be there for the rugby either.

So have a look at the second list and it did not come anywhere near to ANY of those crowds 16 top crowds at Optus - 12 of which are AFL crowds!

As I said a piss poor crowd for an International Event that does not come to Perth all that often.

To be fair, Perth has been chockas full of theatre goer type events lately. Perth people do love an event, but it's not a bottomless well. Manchester united are here in a couple of weeks too which will probably scraped some demand off the Wallabies game too.

The 2019 Wallabies crowd which holds the Perth Stadium record sports crowd, was 2 months after the State of Origin game that year.

This year the Wallabies game was one week after State of Origin. Also this weekend Perth just set a Super Netball record crowd as 13,902 watched the Fever win the grand final at Perth Arena.

But, I am still disappointed the Wallabies didn’t atleast crack 50,000.
