Another fantastic finish in Race 15 between Waters and SVG. SVG is such a beast when he's in full focus-attack mode like that, but Waters was good enough to keep him behind him with that late charge. Quality weekend between those two.
Nah he's got great race craft, if he'd had that pace all year he would be a hell of a lot closer.

One thing i did notice with SGV's car, he was slow for the first 3-4 laps, cars lined up behind him. Wonder if he starts with tyre pressures much lower than others.

He's been doing that all season. He starts relatively slowly, so he doesn't burn his tyres out too quickly. Then, at the end of the stint, he's able to continue running at close to maximum speed on the old tyres, long after everyone else has pitted for new tyres. This means that his 2nd set of tyres don't need to last as long, so he can go flat out on them to the end of the race, while everyone else is managing their older tyres.

Imagine if Waters wasn't on the pace like most of the season, would have been embarrassingly easy for SVG. Waters won both races off the start line.
Yep. Winton isn’t exactly the best track for passing. If Van Gisbergen didn’t make a mess of his starts he probably would’ve won all 3. He pulled away quite easily in race 2

For sure he would have won comfortably.

What’s with the top 10 shoot out timing graphic.
All drivers names are up in random order, gives you no idea who has put down their lap yet.
The supercars graphics are always pretty uninformative for such obtrusive positioning... They should just directly copy it off F1 and change the colours/sizes so it isn't actually identical haha

I swear they only used to put up the names that had run or had all names but had times or splits next to them so you could tell who have run.

They definitely did previously have only the names that had run, but only one time shown like it did today... Somebody decided to make a change, and actively made it worse... hard to believe, really...

3 tyres for SVG and that slow stop might cost him a shot at a victory... plus he has to pass 3 cars in 8 laps. Seems unlikely. Not a bad different strategy with the way SVG looks after tyres

The mechanic changing his rear left blew it completely, by knocking the new wheel away while removing the old. That cost him an extra 4 seconds in the stop. He lost by 1.5 seconds.

Granted, there's a world of difference between catching & overtaking - but everything suggest he would have won the race if the mechanic on the left rear tyre hadn't blown it for him. The strategy was good, it was just a shitty pit stop that prevented it from working.

Strange qualifying for Race 17; Waters did very well to recover from yesterday and is on Pole. Race 18 qualifying was another superb lap from Davison to gap the field on Pole like Race 16 yesterday.

It was a crazy flight across the gutter and into the pack for Courtney. Feel for him (however he ended up off the track initially) and those he hit in Pye, Randle & Hazlewood.

Quality start between Waters, Reynolds and Davison there set the tone and made for a great close race.

Just dumb to cut a race short one lap, though... Timed certainty is one of the more stupid things in motorsport.

The in car showed that was a bigger hit than hitting the other cars.
The first hit was to the tyre wall, then he went sideways into the ditch - which was the big hit. If his wheels had hit that at the wrong angle, the car could very easily have rolled repeatedly, and he could have been upside down when he re-entered the track and started playing skittles.

Very lucky to keep the black things pointed to the ground.

** I'm not actually sure whether the big hit (before playing skittles) was hitting the tyre barrier, or the gutter. It definitely occurred before he re-entered the track, I'm just not sure which of those two impacts was the "big" one.

Mostert played the pitstops well by coming in a bit early and got good tyres in an air gap which actually puts him in the corrected lead. Interesting... potentially ADP with a pit lane infringement coming does potentially ruin the race between him and Mostert.

Best getting stooged a bit there by Jacobsen (hard to really say either were at fault) puts him in the fence and we have a safety car... that'll ruin Mostert's strategy.

Turns out the ADP pitlane thing was basically nothing and will be investigated post-race so probably isn't relevant to the result, so it's likely to be ADP and Davison fighting to the finish, with SVG in there and ready to fight for a spot up the pointy end.
