Like a few posters have mentioned, Uninspiring is a great way to describe our theme song.

I wish we had an upbeat song like this from my second favourite sporting team in the world.

Nice upbeat theme song. Only trouble is the lights at Marvel would be turned off before we got half way through.šŸ˜‰

Good Charlotte - The Anthem

Itā€™s a great game

Dogs go for gold

Itā€™s a new game

Dogs are so bold

And everybodyā€™s just so pumped they came

At the oval

Itā€™s great to see

Doggies faithful

Supporting me

Time out there, it only makes us see

Itā€™s only ever red white blue

They're the only colours that will do

Warriors from olā€™ Footscray

Coz itā€™s only ever

It's only ever red white blue

Itā€™s gotta be red white blue

Oh, what I'm saying is

This is the anthem

Throw all your hands up

You!!

Red white blue!!

Go to Marvel

Or the M....C....G

Get the job done

And break on free

And we are always in the fight to win

Game by game

And weā€™ll be fine

With the oppposition

In the firing line

We are the danger, all the time

Itā€™s a flag we want thereā€™s no mistake

Itā€™s up for grabs for us to take

Out on the road weā€™ll take our crowd

Coz itā€™s only ever

It's only ever red white and blue

Itā€™s gotta be red white blue

Oh, what I'm saying is
This is the anthem
Throw all your hands up
You!!
Red white blue!!

We could also just change it to Sweet Caroline....DaDaDa

*sorry not sorry for the ear worm
Need to get rid of sweet Caroline. Plenty of good dog songs that would pump the crowd.

My vote would be Iggy and the stooges:

Definitely down for a rejig of the tune of the theme song, but happy with the words, however Iā€™d like sons of the scray back in there.

This is like getting rid of the monarchy.
Everybody agrees* that it should be dumped but we'll never get any agreement on what to replace it with.

I reckon the current song is ok if it's sung with some gusto.
They seemed a bit flat on Friday night.
Maybe it was after conceding those seven last quarter goals.

Strike me., BD, that's terrible ! It's just the sort of song that Melbourne players would pinch.

Itā€™s terrible. A ridiculous, tuneless old British music hall seamanā€™s ditty parodying the 19th Century Royal Navy. All the da da das and Whooooos only make it worse. The Club should abandon the "We are the boys from ..." format and adopt a musical, whimisical, recognisable tune and song that reflects upon the club and supporters as in

(a) Youā€™ll never walk alone Liverpool. Gerry and the Pacemakers version. Gerry Marsden a life-long supporter. Thereā€™s the Liverpool connection and the lyrics reflect quiet defiance.

(b) Bubbles West Ham. Although Broadway in origin, ā€œBubblesā€ became a British music halls favorite in the 1920s. Just how or why it was adopted by the East End West Ham supporters remains a mystery. Sung by the Crowd at Upton Park, itā€™s catching;

(c) Sunshine on Leith Hibernian. The Proclaimers, the Reid twins, are lifelong Hibs supporters and Easter Road, Leith is the home ground. A few months after Fitzroy tried to take over Footscray, in 1990, the Edinburgh cross town rival, Heart of Midlothian (ā€œHeartsā€) tried the same and Hibs were, similarly, saved by the grass roots ā€œHands off Hibsā€ Campaign. Sunshine on Leith was an anthem of the campaign. Just quietly, if you want a real tear jerker experience, watch the film Sunshine on Leith.

Mike Brady's confected further parody of the Club song was a joke and the fightback didn't "Save old Footscray's name" anyway. What about Ernie Sigleyā€™s version of I did it my way as a starter ?

The English songs aren't official team songs. They are songs sung by the supporters that end up being aligned to the club.
Similar to Port Adelaide with Never Tear Us Apart, however I believe the club kind of pushed that song.
It's kind of kitsch but if I was a Port fan I would like it
For what it's worth Bubbles is awful but tell a Hammers fan that.

"We're the Bulldogs, used to be Footscray,
Always red, white and blue.
If you're not one of us, we say **** you."

Still working on the tune, but I'm pretty sure I nailed the lyrics
And who needs a pesky tune anyway? Certainly not footy players.

The problem with Sons of the West is that they slowed the tune down from Sons of the Scray which had ā€œas you canā€™t beat the boys of the bulldog breedā€ with more gusto. Itā€™s just too slow now, up the tempo

The problem with "Sons of the West" is that it hasn't been embraced by the members/supporters, it was imposed upon us, by the now metaphorical fat bloke with a pony tail. Maybe it's OK for the players in the Rooms, but not for we, the emotionally exuberant, after the big win. What members/supporters deserve is something we can sing along to, proudly, triumphantly. The more I think about it, the more I like Ernie Sigley's I did it my way

Not as the theme, thinking more like a half time song. Scrap sweet Caroline. ā€˜WB taking overā€™ to start the game

To the tune of Light My Fire by The Doors

We are the Red, White and Blue
We are a bunch of honest triers
We need a coaching panel review
We hear the soft cap's looking dire

Come on baby, let's make finals
Come on baby, let's make finals
We gotta play in this year's finals

The days of two rucks are through
Bevo's brain is unrivalled
If the other coaches only knew
That there's no beating our gamestyle

Come on baby, let's make finals
Come on baby, let's make finals
We gotta play in this year's...FINALS

Premierships? We only have two
Let's see one more before we die
It's time the trophy cabinet grew
We need Brucey back in July

Come on baby, let's make finals
Come on baby, let's make finals
We can't f**in miss these...FINALS

I still haven't come to grips with this one.

Is it Bulldogs fight or bite? I always get confused...

Either way, leave it alone. Port have demonstrated beyond any shade of doubt what 'adopting' a new song is like.
(Absolutely, 100%, embarrassingly f#cking awful.)
Me neither on that particular line of wording. Should be Bulldogs bite and Bulldogs claw (Dog puns) otherwise Bulldogs fight and supporters roar.

Song in general is fine with me, not the best but not the worst by any stretch.
