The calibre of players going to Utah doesn’t get a KD trade done. Brooklyn would have required two of Kat, Ant and McDaniels.
Oh no I get that, but just because one team overpays for a player it doesn’t mean that should be setting a precedent for what another player is worth from different teams

It means just that. The grunt work is the potential growth in KATs game, he made strides this year. Getting him playing physical and buying in on D unlocks the best possible KAT...at least IMO. Just seems like the kind if dude who may phone it in a bit now.

Will also need him to defend out to the perimeter now when on the floor with Gibert, and I don't like that either. Plus wolves are now light for perimeter defense.
It might unlock the best KAT but it doesn't unlock the best Wolves unfortunately. KAT was more aggressive and far better on D this past season but he is just not good enough to anchor a team defensively; he needs help.

If putting a 5 next to him is going to make him phone it in (which I disagree with btw), that's a him problem. It's the only way we look like a consistently winning side. Can't stop ourselves from putting the best team out there.

It's not necessarily about where those picks end up, it's that you now can't use those picks to trade for something else.

You'd want to be sure that you're locking yourself into a nucleus that can contend, otherwise your only real avenue to improve is by trading one of the players you're supposedly building around.

Though, seems like we might be headed towards a paradigm shift where star players are going to be moving around more regularly and GMs might be more accepting to letting go of their own picks because they feel like they can recoup someone else's down the track.

Yeah it’s a choice that restricts flexibility but it makes more sense than Murray long term. That we didn’t include pick swaps too is one upside.

They’ll need to address the depth they just traded away though.

That is genuinely crazy, just why so many firsts...

Kryie gonna be traded to Lakers ain't he ?

He has an albatross of a contract still, so trading him for say Russ, THT and picks will just replace one nutter with another at Lakerland.
His contract is mine, mid 30 mil and it is expiring.

Fit wise he fits this Lakers team perfectly. Obviously the question marks over his mental are justified.

Kyrie would already be a Laker if it was a year ago and LA still had all the pieces they traded to Washington. Having LeBron, AD and Russ all on the roster is the stumbling block. The Nets won't want a king's ransom and a one year $36m deal isn't a big deal. If he had KD's 4 years left I don't think anyone would go near him.
