Opinion Most overrated players from each team?

I think that is the biggest difference between that batch of 'Elite midfielders'.

You have the group that play an 'individual' game, and the group that play the 'team' game.

Players such as Fyfe, Dangerfield and now Cripps look flashy, but they can have great games where they don't necessarily impact on the result.
Others such as Martin, Pendlebury and Bontempelli help drag their teams over the line.

Now i'd never say that any of Fyfe, Dangerfield or Cripps are significantly 'overrated', but i'd take the other three over them if picking a team.
I have this argument with my dad all the time - hes a danger fan and was a priddis licker - there are players in this league that are net negatives to their clubs whilst amassing a plethora of personal awards.

Id have a player like dusty / pendles/ bont over all three of the others

I dunno who is still rated at WC. Most of our better players are past their peak. Naitanui and McGovern have still been good but barely on the park.

Looking at our list right now I'd say Ryan is probably overrated. Good player but should be a 40-50 a year goal kicker and one of the premier small forwards in the comp, too often is a bit anonymous.

Whoever kicks the most goals/points always wins.

Didn’t realise disposals were counted on the scoreboard.

Most overrated stat in modern football.
Three scenarios of football.

We have it.
They have it.
It’s in dispute.

Mitchell might not be the best user, but he commands that you are playing in the first scenario a whole lot.

Nice call on North. I for one, am sick of hearing everyone bang on about how good Jack Mahony is.

You'd be hard pressed to find a Crows fan who still rates Matt Crouch.

Jy Farrar is a weird choice

I frankly wouldn't have assumed his name was even known by a lot of casual fans, but he's honestly a first choice backman for us right now. Been extremely good this year.

Absolutely. Most, if not all of them are very good players but doesn’t mean they can’t be overrated.

Yeah lots of impact players there , it was just funny to see them all lumped together in a negative way I suppose

They would beat the underrated’s pretty easily though

At varying levels (a few of these would be inaccurate as there are teams I simply haven't seen a lot this year):

Adelaide: Shane McAdam (a lot of talent but he's not consistent enough IMO)
Brisbane: Dan McStay (decent but hardly worth the money that's been bandied around)
Carlton: Tom De Koning (very good around the ground but the Kane Cornes quote is the main reason for this)
Collingwood: Will Hoskin-Elliott (guy's been average for ages)
Essendon: Darcy Parish (his game on the weekend was much improved in this area but is very poor defensively)
Fremantle: Michael Walters (shadow of his former self)
Geelong: Rhys Stanley (I genuinely don't understand how he's still on a list)
Gold Coast: Charlie Ballard (harsh maybe, but not sure he's a genuine KPP)
GWS: Daniel Lloyd (see Rhys Stanley)
Hawthorne: Harry Morrison (probably one of the most nothing players on an AFL list)
Melbourne: Joel Smith (maybe a bit harsh but I simply don't rate him)
North Melbourne: Curtis Taylor (promising start but now is a forward who doesn't really hit the scoreboard or tackle particularly well)
Port Adelaide: Xavier Duursma (jeez, looked good early but is now pretty bad)
Richmond: Kamdyn McIntosh (bog average winger really)
St. Kilda: Jimmy Webster (I simply don't get it)
Sydney: James Bell (just not a good footballer)
West Coast: Jackson Nelson (hard for a team like this but surprised he played 100 games)
Western Bulldogs: Ed Richards (good kick but so inconsistent)

how can matt crouch be rated when he isn't even in their 22 anymore lol

Adelaide:Sloane
Brisbane: Neale
Carlton: Cripps
Coll: Grundy
Ess: Parish
Fremantle: Serong
Geelong: Selwood
Gold Coast: Noah Anderson
GWS: Tom Green
Hawthorn: O'Meara
North: Goldstein
Melbourne: K.Pickett
Port: Robbie Gray
Rich: Daniel Rioli
Stk: Billings
Syd:N.Blakey
Western Bulldogs: Weightman
West Coast: Gaff

Adelaide: Darcy Fogarty (turning up with the occasional 3 goal effort against a bottom side shouldn't give you a pass mark)
Brisbane: Cam Rayner (comically underwhelming footballer, whose ACL will be used as an excuse for his shortcomings indefinitely)
Carlton: Adam Cerra (thought this at Freo too. Average in most regards. I would have taken pick 6 to the draft)
Collingwood: Josh Daicos (good skills but is seriously poor defensively and 1-on-1)
Essendon: Jayden Laverde (seen plenty of him. Good on his day but not a premiership/top 4 calibre key defender)
Fremantle: Sean Darcy (defensively slack. Can dominate hit outs but I often find his opponent beats him around the ground. Not a top ruck)
Geelong: Brandan Parfitt (atrocious user of the football, and rest of his midfield game is too average to offset that. Would be a more impactful forward)
Gold Coast: Jack Lukosius (any player who can't solidify himself in one position isn't that special. A solid rebounding defender on his best days)
GWS Giants: Lachie Ash (not really sure where this guy is at. Yet to do anything remarkable in 50 games so far)
Hawthorn: Will Day (regularly I read about how special this kid is. I haven't seen anything that makes him a standout talent as of yet)
Melbourne: Christian Salem (run of the mill half-back in a good team. We see them all the time)
North Melbourne: Jy Simpkin (slim pickings. Terrible user much like Parfitt, and I don't think the rest of his game offsets that crucial weakness)
Port Adelaide: Darcy Byrne-Jones (run of the mill half-back)
Richmond: Jayden Short (have always felt he lacks hurt factor. Receives increased hype due to yellow and black factor but most sides have a half back just as good)
St Kilda: Hunter Clark (used to be the answer to St Kilda's prayers. Luckily Crouch and Jones have covered up this guy's inability to impact as a midfielder)
Sydney: Isaac Heeney (no other player could get away with disappearing for periods as long as this guy does)
West Coast: Alex Witherden (if anybody still rates this guy)
Western Bulldogs: Caleb Daniel (can kick a football, but I don't think his kicking hurts teams as much as we're told it is)

I rate the mentions Jaeger O’Meara is getting. Hawthorn fans watching him weekly probably rate him a lot closer to what he is, but for most neutrals the name is still in another postcode compared to the current player.

Interesting pick with Morrison. Not sure he has ever been highly rated. Often on our supporters' list to cut at the end of the year.

But this year is his best so far and is definitely in our best 22 - which may not say much.
