Matt's attitude in this whole thing has been pretty piss poor. I can get being disappointed or frustrated, but we constantly hear how angry he is, how furious he is. How he can't believe this has happened to him, how he's been blindsided by it. Mate, it's elite team sport. You're not owed a spot, and you are only as good as your contribution to the team. If you don't fit in the side there's no point getting angry about it. You're not Leigh Matthews mate, you're a player who was once very good and is now just good, and you don't fit into our current structure or our future plans. You're not being dudded by being left out the side. Your presence in the side is just no longer a positive.

It would be one thing if we were flying on-field, but we've been a basket case for years now. Time to move on.
As an aside here... Matt attended the banner making night last night (with three other junior players) and helped cut out letters. That actually surprised me (if this "he's chucking a hissy fit" thing is true). This doesn't sound like someone who is blindsided or angry.

Unusual for a reporter to guess how a player is feeling and run it as fact. Tom Morris last year reported Matt was "very offended" at our contract offer, yet he had signed it less than 24 hours later.

Ridiculous that they have free reign to just spout this rubbish and when they're clearly proven wrong it's just on to the next story.

Cheersquad leader: why does this week's banner say "Nicks is a dickhead"?

Both brothers looked better when peak Sloane and Jacobs were around.
The game changed with 6 x 6 x 6 ......there are now less ball-ups, less congestion, quicker ball movement ....defending DEF transition and causing turnovers is sought

Crouch neither hurts opposition clubs offensively .....and is an absolute liability defensively

I think his #1 liability is a lack of a 2nd position. What AFL standard midfielder these days can only play 1 position? I mean its crazy when you think about it.

The moment Laird went by him on the depth chart it was always going to turn out poorly for him.

Got a friend in Tom Mitchell here too. Similarly impacted by the changes

You're getting upset by a term that a journo used, unless I've missed where Matt has used the word "furious"?

It's possible I'm being unfair to Matt, but it seems like every time something like this happens a word like "furious" gets used. That doesn't happen with other players, just him.

If he's been mischaracterised then I've been unfair to him, but that would mean he and only he has been mischaracterised, multiple times now.

I found it interesting earlier in the year when Mitchell was dropped he said in an interview that he understands where the club is at in terms of rebuilding and its more about getting experience into the younger players. How often over the years have our senior players spoke about needing to bring the next wave through, its always stories in the media of players hoping to get a contract when they're clearly past it or getting close. The entitlement that this club breeds just seems to never go away.

Sam Mitchell in the early part of the season, when asked by the media, about Tom Mitchell's role ....said " Toms days are racking up 40 + possessions a game, are over"

Sam, has wanted HAW to move the ball fwd quickly .....if you've watched their games, you can see what he's doing .....Tom Mitchell, racked up possessions, give & receive, and 15-20 mtr sideways passes ......it was the latter he's tried to eradicate from Mitchell's game

Matt Crouch plays similarly .....too many sideways handballs, and 15-20 mtr kicks .....without taking territory & often selling teammates into trouble ....which of course Mitchell & Crouch were adept at cleaning up their own mess

Subsequently, Tom Mitchell has spent large chunks of games on a HFF

So good coaching then?

So good coaching then?
Yes, however Mitchell has tried to change his gamestyle ....and only been dropped once

Has Crouch tried to change .....or at the current pace of the game, no right foot, or right handball ......is just getting caught too often, resulting in panic disposals .....in his head, he probably thinks the 15 mtr sideways kick is better than getting caught HTB or a dump kick

In other words, it's his way of coping with his physical limitations

I reckon a lot of it is due to living in Adelaide. Being in a town where the majority of the state goes for you, people pumping up your tires constantly, telling you you're great (especially for a lot of the people who played through 2015-17).

Compared that to Melbourne and you're fanbase is split between multiple clubs and in NSW and QLD where tons of people don't care about you.

Due to boredom, and an extended number of weeks off work, I have had the misfortune - or should I say the misjudgement - of watching free to air tv and news which I haven't done for 15 years. Just how many times has channel 9 run the shock, horror, story of how incomprehensible it is that Matt Crouch has been dropped or still playing sanfl?
Maybe he has been watching it too?

Surprising would be Frampton back in after getting positively destroyed against Carlton earlier in the year.

I expect Worrell to get the nod.

Surprising but BAD would be Davis or something
We didn't have Murray in the side at the time though, so if it was Frampton back in he wouldn't be required to take McKay or Curnow again.

Correct. If you remember this game Doedee was the intercept 'roaming' defender, and was also pretty rubbish.

And now we know he's been carrying niggling injuries all season.
