Now they tell us!

Looks like the sisters owned the BMW too.

'Sisters found dead in Canterbury unit likely died in a suicide pact, police say

Two months after the grisly discovery of Asra and Amaal Abdullah Alsehli’s bodies inside a Sydney unit, police believe a suicide pact was behind their deaths.'

'August 3, 2022 - 3:52PM'

'A suicide pact is believed to be behind the mysterious death of two Saudi sisters inside a Sydney unit.
Bottles of chemicals and other substances found beside the bodies of Asra Abdallah Alsehli, 24, and her sister Amaal, 23, have lead police to believe the women planned their deaths.'

'Interim toxicology results showed traces of those substances in the women’s bodies, police sources said, but further testing is being carried out by specialist pathology labs before an exact cause of death can be ruled.'

'police believe they could have been dead for up to six weeks due to the advanced state of decomposition they were found in.'

'“There’s no indication of anyone else being in the unit...no forced entry. It really does appear to be a tragic suicide,” a senior police source said.

Non-perishable food items, a bottle of bleach and clothing were among the items found in the bedrooms of the sparsely furnished Canterbury Rd property.'

'Investigators have been unable to confirm any recent employment for either woman, and bank records showed funds were drying up, police said.

NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal records showed the pair was being pursued for more than $5,000 in unpaid rent.

A black BMW coupe seized by police after the bodies were found is expected to be sold to recoup some of the debt owed to the landlord.'

'The Daily Telegraph revealed the sisters’ family in Saudi Arabia had made no plans to fly the bodies home or arrange a burial in Australia.

The NSW Coroner’s court said a burial can be arranged from a deceased person’s finances, but if there are not the funds to do that, a state funded burial can be sought.'

I wonder why the sisters did not just sell their Merc to pay the outstanding rent?

2nd hand cars have been in hot demand in Sydney this year.

'New details emerge about the living situation of Saudi sisters weeks before their deaths'

'The Saudi sisters who were found dead in their Sydney apartment had not paid rent for more than 10 weeks prior to their bodies being discovered.'

'August 3, 2022 - 4:06PM'

'A document from the NCAT NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal obtained by news.com.au shows Asra and Amaal were behind in their rental payments by $5142.86 as of May 13.

That equates to more than 10 weeks of missed rent for their $480 two bedroom apartment.

The sisters also had $26.18 in outstanding water charges.

Police previously attended the unit in mid-March after a call from the building manager, which would have been not long after the women stopped paying rent.'

One thing to add from this article I just picked up on and did not quote in the above quoted Daily Telegraph article today, that completely refutes the ABC reported claim of a witness with evidence of the 2 sisters being found deceased naked.

'The bodies of the reclusive sisters were found fully clothed in separate beds at their Canterbury unit on June 7.'

Sounds like they were struggling financially and couldn't really reach out to their family for support
They could have sold the Merc.
Although they might have owed someone a whole lot of money on the Merc, if they had any loan debt related to it.
Assuming they actually owned it.

Hard to tell where the truth is, when one version of the truth does not provide a name of the witness, the evidence to back it up, and the evidence does not come from an official Statement by the Coroner, who would have been provided with pics of what clothed or not state the bodies were in when first discovered. And be able to more independently verify the claim.

Exactly and add to that mistaken identity - with another duo of SD young ladies whom apparently ended up in Canada.

Misinformation has mostly been present in this case because certain media outlets have wanted to push the whole Saudi Arabia honour killing narrative. If they weren't pushing that narrative it was the girls renounced Islam and fled to savw their lives. etc. And of course the outlets were pushing this narrative because it knows it has an audience for it who are willing to lap up anything they say because of their bigotry.

It's known what happens in Saudi Arabia. It's on record. It's on film. It's documented.

Still doesn't mean anytime any girls from Saudi Arabia die it automatically means the parents sent out a hit squad just so they could have them murdered. Especially when the cops admit there is nothing to suggest they were involved two months after it happened. Its odd. All this focus on honour killings yet in the same process all those pushing for the honour killing narrative did not honour the girls themselves as they were so focused on it.

Have had to sift through so much nonsense in the past week and lots of things I've ignored. Such as people claiming or thinking that it is a clue that the family were involved because they did not want the images of their daughters to be in public so the police could get further information.

Firstly, it's possible the parents already suspected the girls committed suicide. This goes against the Islamic belief that God will not place more burdens on someone than they can handle in this life. As we know that's the likely theory from the police and most Muslim communities especially those in a religious country view suicide as a terrible sin. It's close to being unforgiveable actually. Now the whole world knows the girls likely committed suicide. Not a good image in Saudi Arabia for their family.

I was in a half Muslim/half Christian country when Gary speed died. Mostly Muslim country. Had a sizeable Christian population as well. And I informed my aunties husband that an ex footballer died and then he asked how and I said suicidal as this what was being reported and his words were May God not bring him back. I felt offended at his words but because it was my first time visiting and I did not know him well I just ignored his comments to not start an argument.

I can imagine the reaction in a strict Muslim country such as Saudi Arabia to be much worse. If not from the family but from others who know them. Not a good look for them from their perspective.

Secondly, it is possible the family didn't want the images of their daughters to be seen by men across the globe.

Thirdly, it is also possible the family just accepted the deaths. When a person dies islamically it is accepted. Most don't dwell on it as it is destined for a person to live and die. Those who pass are buried usually within 24 hours and then they are mourned for three days and it's over. Most Muslims don't harass the cops and coroner for information as to how their loved one died even if it's a "mystery".

Three possible reasons why the family didnt want their images out in public. Though because people wanted this honour killing narrative they immediately assumed well parents don't want the help the cops solve the case, this is a clue they were involved etc.

Just nonsense really. Uninformed nonsense usually led by bigotry.

I don't know if you can just write off this is an uninformed nonsense bigotry.

Why the hell did the police set up a task force to investigate something that was so clear cut as a suicide?

Something stinks massively here and i'm not buying it

With any hit squad scenario, I would have thought it way more likely it would be a State sanctioned or State rogue sponsored one than a family initiated one.

Some of the media (the most powerful ones) are heavily pushing the suicide theory.

Unless there is suddenly a massive anti-Saudi push by Australia's key military allies (can't see that happening anytime soon), I can't imagine the likes of Hedley Thomas or Gary Jubelin doing a podcast series on this case, or wanting to go anywhere near it, unless to add weight to the suicide theory.

From a Law Enforcement resourcing side of things, let alone the Politics of the Saudi, Asylum seeker, overseas student angle of this case, I can't imagine there's much enthusiasm at any involved level of Government to have this case drag on for years as a high profile unsolved potential homicide.

And with no or minimal weight and volume of close friends or relatives of the deceased sisters speaking out on this case, and the likely ongoing background fear of offending the powerful Saudi Authorities, I'd be surprised if there is anything much in the media about this case once the Coroner has had their final say.

Things just got a little bit queer in this case.

And are in danger of spawning a new theory about what the plumber saw.
Or that the sisters were more than just sisters, or not even sisters at all.
Or that the sisters were faking their queerness to bolster their asylum seeking case.

'Saudi sisters found dead in Sydney told acquaintance queer women ‘live in fear’ in their homeland

Exclusive: Guardian understands sisters attended girls-only queer event and police are investigating if one or both feared being persecuted for their sexuality'

'Thu 4 Aug 2022 11.59 AEST'

'Two Saudi sisters found dead in their beds in Sydney attended a girls-only queer event in January where they told acquaintances gay women “live in fear” in Saudi Arabia.

The Guardian understands New South Wales police are investigating whether one or both of the sisters may have feared being persecuted for their sexuality in their homeland, which they fled together in 2017 for Australia, where they made claims for asylum.'

'The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Guardian the sisters were “keeping to themselves” at the party and told her queer people faced oppression in Saudi Arabia.

“I noticed them keeping to themselves in a corner, looking shy and so I went over and started talking to them,” she said.

“They mentioned that they were from Saudi Arabia, and we talked about what it is like to be queer there. They said women live in fear of their safety and that they were grateful to be living in Australia, where they could more freely express themselves.”

The women – who had active claims for protection with the Department of Home Affairs in Australia – spoke openly about women’s rights, including women having greater independence in Australia.

But the sisters were reluctant to talk in detail about their home country.

“I asked about their lives in Saudi Arabia and whether they had returned home recently to visit family but they seemed reluctant to go into detail and gave short answers,” the woman said.

The woman said she contacted police as soon as she saw a photo of the sisters in the media.
“The police were very keen to speak to me as it appears the sisters lived a very reclusive lifestyle, especially recently, and so police don’t know much about them,” she said.

She said NSW police were certain one of the sisters identified as queer.

“They did confirm to me that they knew one of the sisters was queer, but they weren’t sure about the other,” the woman said.
The woman said it was “obviously difficult” raising the issue publicly, but when she saw the news about the sisters’ deaths she felt compelled to come forward.

“We spoke about how unsafe it is for Saudi women to be openly gay and that that would put a target on their back, so I wanted to make sure that the police were aware that at least one of the sisters were openly exploring their queer sexuality.

“This information could help find out what has happened to them.”

The Guardian asked NSW police about its lines of inquiry regarding the women’s deaths. A spokesperson said: “As the investigation is ongoing, police continue to appeal for information in relation to the death of the two women.

Police refused to confirm media reports that the women had died of suicide, and that “bottles of chemicals” were found near their bodies.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said “no further information is available at this stage” when asked if this was a line of inquiry, adding that the investigation was ongoing.'

Just looking at all the facts, it doesn't necessarily have to be an "Either/Or" scenario, though...

It seems they were definitely frightened and paranoid about something. It could be that they were indeed being harassed and persecuted, and with nobody to turn to and the expectation of the harassment continuing, this is what eventually drove them to suicide (if that's what it was).

I don't think that sounds ridiculous....

Are they suggesting they killed themselves by drinking bleach or some other chemical?

I guess I just assumed toxicology was looking for drugs.

This case makes no sense whatsoever.

Guardian is claiming the girls attending lesbian event in January and that one or possibly both girls were lesbians. Isn't it really rare for two sisters to be lesbians?

Not just that the timeline doesn't fit. The girls suspected someone was watching them or tampering with their food late 2021. Tho the guardian is sharing a report from someone who claims to have met then at lesbian event in Jan 2022.

The girls were so afraid of something or someone and people point to it possibly being linked to their background in that they possibly fled or that they were possibly ex Muslims and rightly so as that's the likeliest scenario here if they were murdered unless it was a hate crime which imo at this point is not even a possibility but back to the honour killing theory, they were so paranoid yet they were attending a lesbian event.

That makes no sense whatsoever. This story wouldn't be the first story that isn't true in this case. But if it is then this case gets all the more bizzare.

I don't think that sounds ridiculous....

It's also possible the girls were recieving money from someone overseas possibly their family and then it came to a halt for reasons unknown at this point and then this led to their suicide because they were struggling to pay the rent.

Now are you going to be consistent and admit it's possible the current economic climate in Sydney and Australia which is pushing families to live in their cars or worse on the street and girls who came from another country for a better life to suicide?

If you're fair and consistent you'd admit that's also a possibility. At this point thats a much of a possibility as the one you pointed out. Probably has more weight right now considering whats come out about their financial status too.

Also not that you believe it as I don't know if you do but if they were being harrassed and persecuted would they really be going to lesbian events?

With any hit squad scenario, I would have thought it way more likely it would be a State sanctioned or State rogue sponsored one than a family initiated one.

You mean the Saudi government?

Thanks for sharing this information, it's very insightful.

Would not wanting to collect their bodies also be in line with this?

What are your thoughts on the girls regularly appearing frightened?

There were also reports that the girls were naked. If this is true, would there be any reason to suicide naked? Because that seems a strange detail to me.

I have no idea what kind of relationship they had with their family. It's said their mother visited a few years back but at this point it's hard to know what to believe.

But if they committed suicide I do not believe their family will want their bodies back. Suicide is that big of a sin. I personally don't think any sin or anything connected to religion should make a person turn away from a loved one since it's between them and God but I'm basing my opinion on what I know is most likely in Muslim cultures especially in strict religious ones like Saudi Arabia.

It is possible they would've taken the bodies back if the suicides were not public. That's the thing too that I sort of don't understand people are accusing the police of lying that it wasn't suicide but murder. Yet they don't realise it's pretty insulting to the Saudis to put a worldwide story out there and connect the deaths of two saudiss to suicide. It's not a good look for them. I don't really agree with the theory that the police are lying to protect the Saudis. I think they do a pretty good job of making the world not like them anyway whats another story of two girls dying because they fled the country? If that's what happened I believe the police will say it.

If the girls were naked which I believe now isn't true as another article stated they were clothed. But if they naked then I think it's one of three possibilities.

1) they were murdered. That's the likely theory for me but it does have flaws in it. I'll get to why it's likely first. It's likely they were murdered if they were naked as usually when a victim is murdered and they are left naked there is usually a sexual connation to it. It's linked even more if the body is left in a sexually suggestive pose. But one flaw with the naked theory is if they were left naked I really doubt the person(s) who did it would do it so cleanly to the point two months after the bodies were discovered the cops still aren't sure if it's a suicide or if they were killed. Being left naked is usually a message. So why leave them naked but clean up the crime scene so well the cops aren't sure what happened?

2) The girls at times slept naked and it's just a random occurrence whether they died by natural causes or suicide.

3) The girls died naked to disguise their deaths. Now I usually wouldn't say this is a possibility as I think it's disrespectful to say that about any victim but since the girls were Muslim they would know suicide is not a honourable way to die. So to make it appear that they were killed and they didn't take their lives this can be a reason why they died naked. Now I don't think this happened obviously but I'm just throwing it in as a suggestion.

And to why the girls were frightened I really do not know. They could've been frightened because of their background. Or because they fled. That's a possibility. But they could've been mentally ill too. Just going by what the plumber said I think it was who said something strange is going on in that house and I never want to visit there again. Who was in the house when the girls were there? It was just the two girls and the plumber. What exactly were the girls doing/what environment were they creating to the point they made him say those comments? No one else was in the home. That can be linked to mental illness.

Basically there are so many possibilities to this case. I've never tried to defebd Saudi Arabia or the family of the girls. I've tried to look at this case critically without letting my biases come into it. I think I've done that well as that's how I try and look at any story.

I personally do not believe the Saudi government would want to kill two girls who live thousands of miles away just because they possibly fled five years earlier. That's just me. Open to changing my opinion once new evidence comes to the light.
