Who is the arseiest team in history prior to Collingwood 2022?

They’re the only team I’d be happy to play in September, you know you’re a good chance as it’ll probably be a close one.

Margins say yes, 11 in a row says no.

I wouldn't call it arse, but these stats are amazing.

Smallest (or equal) cumulative margins over a V/AFL winning streak of ..
5 games - 27 COLL 2022 R16-20
6 games - 38 COLL 2022 R15-20
7 games - 62 COLL 2022 R12-19
8 games - 66 COLL 2022 R11-19
9 games - 72 COLL 2022 R11-20
10 games - 108 COLL 2022 R10-20
11 games - 115 COLL 2022 R10-21

WC was pretty lucky with Kennedy kicking goals on the siren in 18/19. That whole team got free kicks with 5 mins to go and never missed.

Maybe the 2016 dogs as well if you consider that season arsy.

No way? That isn't smashing one record.

...apparently. That's coincidental... Couldn't be culture yeah?

amazing - a series of stats I imagine vindicated by their staggeringly low % for a team a game clear in 2nd

It's not luck, although there's an element of luck in everything.

They're just in hot form and continually getting it done. Momentum, confidence and belief makes it so, it's amazing what can be achieved when everyone buys in. They're full of confidence to will themselves over the line and they are executing perfectly.

Yeah nah… in close games there’s a huge degree of luck.

Probability isn’t neat and variance happens. You get hot runs and very cold runs of luck.

Pies are having one. It happens.

Maybe it’s balancing up all those grand finals!

What's the probability of a run like this?

As I write, they are currently busy squeaking it again… against Melbourne . Again.

Has there been anyone luckier?

Never change Geelong supporters.

They’ve proven themselves time and time again. Ok if it’s once or twice, but ordinary sides won’t do it consistently. Wins are all that matters at the moment and they have 11 in a row.

You'd think Geelong would smash them by 10 goals with their superior defence.

But they have belief going for them at the moment

Throughout the streak luck did play a factor but that can said amongst many teams and even champions in any sport. Luck is indeed part of sports.

But magpies winning closely regardless of the team they face means that their opponents can't figure out a pattern within the game to abuse them at; it also means pies don't give up and aren't fazed by deficits regardless of who their opponents are which means they have very good focus. And it also means pies players don't give up which is a key to a lot of winners.

I think pies are enjoying each game and are playing without pressure, at least not as much as a team like Melbourne and this really helps them play focused and loosely.
