Normally Pies score off turnover but Dees desperate in d50, saving at least 3 certain goals.

Nothing guaranteed but we have a great finals record against the Pies: 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2020 finals victories.

Collingwood beat Geelong in the prelim in their last premiership year of 2010.

Geelong has no fear of Collingwood at the G. We have a very good record there this season including against the Pies.

May the best team win if we meet in September.

2nd half summary:

Pies upped their pressure around contest, allowed them clearance wins, which gave them (limited) clean transition.

Dees 2nd half pressure was still elite, not as much as the Pies but - gave us the win.

Not gonna say this was the difference but Dees won the metrics to give them the win but didn't capitalize. They'll learn from this and make them stronger. (i50, clearances, shots at goal, contested possies)

Pies young brigade stood up (again), different this time in prime time slot and a very vocal crowd. Stood up in pressure (Johnson, Mcreery come to mind).

Reality is current teams, Dees win this 9/10 and by some margin.

Clarry and Trac around or near enough 40 possies each - normally game over and by some margin.

Pies lost every metric by some margin and still win the game, apart from marks, HO and tackles, system failed but still win.

IF we played the cats in this game we lose by (conservatively) 7-8 goals. That's not a discredit to the (rightful) premier in the Dees, this was an anomaly.

In short: Pies - lotta work to do to be a contender come the real stuff, Dees did not get reward for effort >tonight<.

Pies have serious belief and if we win the whole box and dice it won't be off the best listed team, it'll be system (if they can get some clearance wins)

The way it played out was that the Demons played their best footy and it wasn’t good enough.

When the Pies upped the pressure in the second half and matched contested footy, the Pies stood up and won the game as Melbourne began to struggle.

Pies so much more upside. As for Melbourne, can’t see them making it.
They can’t get much more out of their best players.
