Roosters: Forwards Lindsay Collins (concussion) and Egan Butcher (suspension) are both out so Matt Lodge moves into the starting side at prop and Terrell May and Ben Thomas are the new faces on the bench. May has played five games off the interchange this season while Thomas lines up for his first NRL match since round 24 last year.
Broncos: Patrick Carrigan received a four-match ban at the judiciary on Tuesday night. Kobe Hetherington has been named in his place at lock. Winger Selwyn Cobbo returns after missing the past fortnight due to a concussion suffered in Origin Three so Delouise Hoeter goes to the reserves list. Jake Turpin has been recalled on the bench at the expense of Cory Paix while Rhys Kennedy also comes into the 17.

Storm: Hooker Brandon Smith returns from suspension in a boost for Craig Bellamy but fullback Nick Meaney (shoulder/concussion) is out, replaced by Tyran Wishart. Winger David Nofoaluma has arrived on loan from Wests Tigers and slots straight in to the starting side with Grant Anderson shifting to centre to replace Justin Olam, who has tested positive to COVID.
Chris Lewis has been recalled on the bench and Xavier Coates is listed among the reserves as he nears a return from an ankle injury.
Titans: Jayden Campbell returns to the starting side at fullback after two games on the interchange so AJ Brimson goes to five-eighth, Tanah Boyd to halfback and Toby Sexton rested. Greg Marzhew is the new man on the bench.

Sea Eagles: The Sea Eagles have Jason Saab, Christian Tuipulotu, Tolutau Koula, Haumole Olakau'atu and Toafofoa Sipley back in the starting side but Sean Keppie (shoulder) remains sidelined. Andrew Davey suffered a head knock against the Roosters but has been named to play and Ben Trbojevic is back from the head knock he suffered in Round 19. Dylan Walker and Martin Taupau revert to the bench after starting last week.
Eels: Jake Arthur takes over at halfback for the injured Mitch Moses in the only change to the squad that took care of the Panthers in Round 20. Arthur starts at halfback for the first time in 2022 after playing five-eighth in rounds 7 and 8.

Rabbitohs: Taane Milne returns from a finger injury in the centres, filling the hole left by Jed Cartwright (hamstring). Bench forward Tom Burgess (suspended) is out, replaced by Mark Nicholls. The other new face on the interchange is Blake Taaffe, who is recalled for his first game since Round 15. Kodi Nikorima is out.
Warriors: Euan Aitken has been moved from the back row to the centres in place of Adam Pompey who drops to the reserves. Five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita is out with a knee injury so Wayde Egan moves from hooker to the No.6 jersey and Freddy Lussick has been promoted to start in the No.9.
Aaron Pene (illness), Bayley Sironen (eye socket) and Jack Murchie (parental leave) all return in the pack. Josh Curran goes to the bench and Jazz Tevaga drops out due to a shoulder injury suffered against the Storm. Taniela Otukolo will play his first game since round 13 on the bench.

Raiders: The return of Jordan Rapana from suspension sees Albert Hopoate drop to 18th Man. Adam Elliott hurt his hip against the Titans but has been named to play.
Panthers: Sean O'Sullivan moves from five-eighth to halfback to cover for Nathan Cleary, who was suspended for five games for a dangerous tackle. Jaeman Salmon comes into the starting side at five-eighth. Origin centre Stephen Crichton returns from the nasty ear cut he suffered against the Sharks and back-up hooker Mitch Kenny (knee) is also back on deck.

Sharks: A blow for the Sharks with fullback Will Kennedy facing 5-6 weeks on the sideline after undergoing ankle surgery. His place is taken by Kade Dykes on debut. Royce Hunt is out with a shoulder injury so Braden Hamlin-Uele will start and Braydon Trindall joins the bench. Hunt has been listed among the reserves so he may get a recall later in the week should he recover quickly.
Dragons: Coach Anthony Griffin has stuck with the same 17 that went down to the Cowboys on Sunday. Fullback Cody Ramsey is expected back on deck in Round 22 from a knee injury.

Bulldogs: Mick Potter has named the same 17 that got the job done against the Knights. Raymond Faitala-Mariner is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from the rib cartilage injury that sidelined him in Round 20.
Cowboys: Winger Kyle Feldt will miss two games with a hamstring injury and his place is taken by Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. Veteran Jake Granville is the new man on the bench.

Wests Tigers: Youngster Fonua Pole gets his second crack in the starting side as the replacement for Jackson Hastings (ankle). At 26, Wests Magpies NSW Cup captain Tom Freebairn will make his NRL debut off the bench. Luke Garner remains sidelined with a neck injury.
Knights: Star centre Bradman Best returns from a thumb injury so Enari Tuala shifts to the wing and Simi Sasagi goes to the bench. Prop David Klemmer was not considered for selection due to disciplinary reasons, replaced by Jacob Saifiti. Utility Kurt Mann is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from a quad injury.

Every club has injuries but f*** we just cannot get a clear run at it continuity wise.

I still feel like we could push the top four sides if we can field the same side 2-3 weeks in a row.

As it is id be very surprised if we beat Brisbane tomorrow night

Agree. The Roosters are good. Healthy they are serious contenders,. The fact they are fighting for a finals spot is bizarre.

Brandon Smith is a good inclusion for the Storm. They need to roll the Titans to make the top 4.
Raiders need to beat Penrith for finals spot. Getting them at home and not close to full strength is huge.
Tigers, Sharks and Cowboys should all win.
Can´t pick Eels and Manly. Manly playing for season, at home with players back should win. Parra just beat the Panthers they are due to lose after that.

Stadium stoush: V'landys demands action on Perrottet's false promises

Thu 4 Aug 2022

ARLC Chairman Peter V'Landys AM says he's disappointed by the actions of the New South Wales government and premier Dominic Perrottet over their reversal of suburban stadium funding plans.

V'landys appeared on The Today Show on Thursday morning demanding answers from the government over the decision to withhold funding, which could result in the 2022 Telstra Premiership Grand Final being moved away from New South Wales.

"We have an agreement [in place] since 2017 [and] we've been very patient with them," V'Landys said of the New South Wales government.

"The money is set aside to be spent.

"There's billions of dollars in infrastructure funds available to him. We're only talking $300 million that's left to be done — and that's available to the government.

"We've compromised [already]," he said.

"There was supposed to be $800 million spent but because of his budget pressures, we negotiated it down to $600 [million]. They went to an election with this $800 million promise; the opposition at the time were against it [but] they went to an election and won an election on spending this money on sporting infrastructure which is very important for the state of New South Wales."

V'Landys was highly critical of the timing by Perrottet to announce the priority for funding for flood victims over investment into new stadiums.

"He's spinning it," he said. "He's using human tragedy to get himself and weasel himself out of an agreement. So to us, this excuse is the hardest thing for us to accept because this is the fourth excuse he's used.

"He gave me his word, we trusted him. He didn't want to make an announcement because of other political issues.

"He always had a commitment — he shook my hand and we had an agreement. We agreed when it should be announced and he hasn't come through with it.

"That's disappointing.

"It's all about integrity," V'Landys added. "How can anyone do an agreement with the state of New South Wales, not knowing if that agreement will be honoured? I stress, they've got the money and can do it — we just can't understand why they're doing this."

With a venue for the 2022 Telstra Premiership still unconfirmed, V'Landys said options would be looked at to potentially move the game away from New South Wales, whilst also highlighting his desire to keep the game in the state.

"We can't punish the people of New South Wales because of the [lack of] integrity of the New South Wales government," he said.

"They've had two very hard years — we haven't played the Grand Final here last year or the State of Origin — and the last thing we want to do is punish them.

V'Landys said a decision on where the 2022 Telstra Premiership Grand Final would be played would likely be made over the weekend or on Monday at the latest because of the necessity to have ticketing options on sale for the public.

The 2022 Telstra Premiership Grand Final will be played on October 2.

After a positive first 20 the lazy Eels have made an appearance and now Manly look a class above. Also having Arthur on the right with Blake is a shocking decision, every time the ball comes to that side Manly are making 20-30 metres.

Parramatta hold down a player for a second too long - Penalty.
Manly throw the player playing the ball to the ground - Play On.

The result has been predetermined.

36 is Parramatta's highest ever score at Brookvale.

He isn't Moses, but Jake Arthur wasn't too bad in tonight, had some issues defensively in the first half, but looked more solid in the second and his confidence seemed to grow from that and his offensive game in the last 30 minutes was pretty good. His pass to Blake was great and kick to Penisini was even better.

Important win for Parra, keeps us in the running for a top 4 spot.

I was almost about to post a couple of hours ago, that Arthur hadn't done anything except a few harmless bombs that were comfortably fielded by the defence, when suddenly he all turned good, a bit. Anyway, it was a cracking contest for the neutral, and after watching my own team win convincingly, very enjoyable. With a shout for finish of the season, surely?

Well yeah, it seemed wildly out of proportion to me. I didn't see the on-field incident back, although I did watch the game. Was a lot made of it at the time, I don't recall? Either way, acting like Competitive Football Touchline Dad is not a good look.
