It‘s funny how expectations change over time. Back when we were considered the most successful club in the land, we never sugar coated bad performances. The words ‘Almost’, ‘’Nearly’, ‘Try Harder’, ‘Tough Competition’ etc were never part of the Port vernacular. Ken, Koch, Richardson etc wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes in that highly demanding environment, they would have quit or been unceremoniously kicked to the curb side.

We didn’t set the standard, we were the standard that every other club envied & wanted to be. We won multiple Premierships not because we necessarily had the most highly skilled players, but because we almost always had the greater desire to win. I hate what we’ve become, & what we now deem acceptable. This great club still has a faint pulse, but it will never rise again to it’s former glory until the cancer is removed for good. The hillbilly, our woke President, & all their cheer leading enablers, need to clear their desks & be escorted out the door.

Which in the know posters on this board have been instantly dismissed? There has been very little in the way of information either indicating that the sacking of Hinkley is imminent or linking Clarkson to a vacancy in the event that Hinkley is sacked.

The best indication we have had was from the Chairman himself, who has since been challenged, even dared, by the protection racket to actually act on his words and hasn't been seen or heard from since. We are being told that sacking Hinkley would be a disgrace and Koch has a history of backing down under this type of pressure. This is where a lot of the pessimism of the past 48 hours has come from.

I think it's still possible he gets sacked but it's deluded to think Clarkson will patiently wait around for the idiots on our board to actually make a decision.

Koch is part of the problem and who is sacking him??? Sack Hinkley if we lose to Essendon... "overreaction". Sack Hinkley if we lose to the Crows the following week... "handing them a PR win to start the long offseason". Hell, Clarko signs for Norf while Koch fiddles about... "there really wasn't another standout candidate to chase".

Always some bloody excuse from these people. Never ownership.

I’ve not seen a campaign of support like this before. Ken getting all his media mates and players to talk him up. It’s embarrassing

Yes, and "unhealthy" is an even better description of it.

Similar to Eddie, nobody sacks him, he either stands down or a group challenge the board I guess

Many seem not to understand that the appointment of all bar 2 of PAFC Board members are done from AFL House in Melbourne. And even those 2 'member voted' appointments must have AFL approval.

Unlike North Melbourne- based in Melbourne, we are effectively owned by the AFL -also based in Melbourne.

And yet it is North Melbourne that the AFL is keen to support in terms of key club appointments ?

Take the time to think about just how fecked the AFL governance model for this national competition is.

that's not how our board works :(

We will have our answer if the players really want him to stay by about 4.20 Sunday arvo.
Essendon are so like port it's not funny, the battle of the flakies, every year they turn it on towards seasons end to give fans hope and they eat it up like starving children

To further that the AFL is a absolute farcical "professional" or "elite" competition. It's not that at all. The governing body actively manipulates outcomes, see the Essendon saga or the Melbourne tanking but it wasn't tanking saga the list is endless where it does it.

The draft is a joke. It's severely compromised by academy picks, father/son picks, and free agent compensation. So the actual purpose of the draft is defeated by "feel good" stories. The past two years off the top of my head the top pick has been a academy pick for someone else. So who had the number 1 pick actually can't use it correctly. May happen again this year to. It either needs to be a clean draft or you don't have it at all. Free agency should have no compensation, the players are free agents end of story.

Then you see the AFL actively pushing coaches to certain clubs. Which are mainly Victorian clubs cause they need saving due to years of poor list management or draft picks. So that further dilutes the competition.

Then you hear we may not be allowed to sack Hinkley cause the AFL won't allow it, whilst they pick the majority of our board members. No comment needed there it speaks for itself.

No other sporting competition on the planet has the governing body doing this, they are there to govern the game not influence it as they do.

Also I know it's off topic for the thread just had to vent it.

Again, for everyone freaking out about the Butters comments about Ken, please be cognisant of the fact that these comments came at an official press conference orchestrated by the club to discuss Butters being in the under 22 All Australian squad. What do you seriously expect him to say at such an event?

Good grief.

Zak Butters answered the Hinkley question exactly as he had too. Almost like he was expecting to be asked and had been given the script. Much the same as he will say how he's looking forward to getting the best out of himself with the new coach.

That aside Zak speaks very well.

Just remembered Kane Cornes telling us how bad Primus was compared to Hinkley.

Give me a principled, dedicated Port Adelaide man who would bleed for the club but can't coach over a dumb, greedy, sociopathic hillbilly who also can't coach any day of the week.

And the fact that Primus wanted to rid the club of a selfish little rat like you Kane is actually an indicator that he did have some idea what he was doing. F*** you Kane, I don't care what you did on grand final day, Primus deserves that medal way more than you ever will.
If Alastair Clarkson had the lack of resources that Matt Primus had, he would have struggled too. Kane's criticism of Primus is way off the mark.

Yeah, it's a bit harsh being critical of young players for saying the things they're pretty much coached to say.

It is so bleeding obvious Peter Blucher is pulling every string behind the scenes. He'd be calling in favours from everyone....media heads, other player managers, basically every string he can possibly pull he's pulling. I've never seen anything like this to be honest. Massive stitch up.

Yep... One of the many reasons I might be not just lost to port... But not give 2 ****s about the AFL soon enough.
