No club more beholden to its fans than Port? Oh please give me a break. I don't think the fans have had any less influence over the decisions of the club than what has occurred at Alberton over the last 5 years where the relationship between the club and its supporters has turned to one whereby the club has referred to critically observant fans as "white noise."
The whole "turn it around or watch out" line was simply Koch using the very words of the interviewer to answer the question at hand. In typical fashion it has been taken out of context, and the protective Victorian media racket have upped the ante and used it against Port to apply pressure into endorsing Hinkley for another season.
The club is treading water under Hinkley. It's not actually going anywhere. It will forever hover in the 7-10 range although this year has been an unmitigated disaster and no one seems to want to take accountability of said disaster - if anything the people in charge (Ken and co) are being praised for not capitulating at 0-5 even though they're sitting 12th on the ladder having lost their last 4 games and are closer to the bottom 4 in terms of premiership points than they are to the top 8.
What a sad state of affairs that we are in a position whereby we as supporters of the club know that the club isn't going to win a flag under Hinkley - yet even if he scrapes into finals next year you can guarantee that he will get a further 2 year extension at the club. I legitimately believed that the only way Hinkley was going to leave was by having an absolute stinker this year - which he has well and truly accomplished, yet most signs point to him staying for 2023.
What will piss me off the most about tomorrow night's Kochie report if he endorses Hinkley (as Caro alluded to) for 2023 is that barely 3 days ago he said every position in the footy department would be reviewed at the end of the season. Now 3 days later he's not going through a review and endorsing his senior coach because used car salesman Kenny has felt the pressure of uncertainty for a few days? Fûck me. You want to know what pressure looks like Ken? Go to Ukraine and watch as the locals run to the bomb shelter in the basement of their apartments, waiting there for hours on end whilst they hear the commotion above ground, hoping that 1) they won't be caught hostage, and 2) if they're lucky enough to make it back to neutral ground that they still have somewhat of a city when they return.
Meanwhile, Camperdown Ken is having a hard time because of a few words his boss said about accountability after a historically bad season. The fear of losing your 800k/year job when you've already robbed the club blind of more than 5 million really must take its toll. I have no idea how you sleep at night, Ken. Go fûck yourself.
