Feels that way feelThis is it, isn't it. This is the year footy dies for me and my family and a full acceptance that the club we knew died in 1997 and to get on with your life.
10 years and once again it'll be lipstick on a pig changes.
Yeah that was bizarre. The fix is in.Caro on Monday saying it's been 10 years and a few days later acting like Ken is the victim![]()
Any changes they make will be for the next coach. Because we don’t have cash I can see the AFL not letting us sack Ken.I think they can only ‘add’ - can’t do wholesale changes if Ken is moved on end of next year. Who would want to come here knowing they could be gone soon after?
All assistants have contacts for next year too, wonder who they might axe.
We can 100% sack him.Because we don’t have cash I can see the AFL not letting us sack Ken.
You then keep hearing pre 2011 talk. Jump ahead a decade.
I don't want us to become a club that keeps sacking coaches. I just want us to become a club that sacks this one.Our club has been unified behind a loser for a decade.
It has gotten us nowhere.
We should have kept sacking coaches til we found a ruthless winner like Richmond did.
I just want to fill my car boot with cheap donuts and stand out the front of the club pelting them from the carpark until I'm dragged away.... sad but true. The whole situation is *ed!!!
Earlier this year when Ken was under pressure with his 0-5 start we had Caro on Footy Classified banging on about how Ken SAVED the club!!! Ken was thanked for that and for turning Port around in 2013/2014. In 2015/2016 he underperformed, but he was given some grace for his earlier work. In 2017 it really started to get interesting. As soon as we got belted by the Crows late in the season everyone knew we were just making up the numbers. It was at that stage where Koch and the board should've really been considering his future. At this stage he was contracted until the end of 2018.
What does the club decide to do at the end of 2017?
Give Ken a THREE year contract extension until the end of 2021...

Ken Hinkley agrees to a three-year contract extension at Port Adelaide rebuffing Gold Coast Suns interest
Powering on: Hinkley to stay at Port Adelaidewww.foxsports.com.au
2018 rolls around and we go from 11-4 to missing Finals but Ken is contracted until the end of 2021...this is when the club starts copping some flak and Koch comes out and declares that nobody was complaining earlier in the year!!! There's also the inconvenient fact that it would've cost too much to pay him out because you've prematurely resigned him for 3 seasons![]()
In 2019 it's seen as a rebuilding year and Finals are missed once again. Covid and a soft draw in 2020 suddenly gave us an unexpected Premiership window, but it's not capitalised on. End of 2020 and Ken still has one year to go on his contract at this stage (contracted to the end of 2021). What does the club do!? Give him another TWO year contract extension to keep Ken here until the end of 2023!!!

Hinkley extends contract with Port Adelaide
Ken Hinkley has agreed to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2023.www.portadelaidefc.com.au
This has now been a 5 year saga.
FWIF, I think he’s gone. A bad loss this week and we’ll have a stand in coach for the Showdown. We can hope all we like, he's not going anywhere and will probably be well beyond next year, oh well we tried but the club doesn't care what we think as long as we pay up and attend.
Ken Hinkley has a long way to go before hes as good as Ken HinkleyKen Hinkley is the Ken Hinkley of coaches.
