I do think 2 easy games against teams out of finals contention followed by a bye isn't an ideal lead up the finals.
Feel like their last 4-5 games have felt like easy kills. Definitely feel ripe for a QF loss.

Port definitely wasn't, some of the other games were contests until Geelong broke down the opposition. Too bad so sad for WB, Carlton etc. who had something to play for. Different proposition to playing a 2 win team at home in Rd 23.

Same story every year for Geelong though. This year leading into finals they are the form team and should finish top, but if they drop the QF people will just call them a good H&A side etc.

This is a bit too easy for Geelong. Jeez they have an old team but far less broken than us. Holmes, Strangle and De Koning will take them forward. Getting Jeremy Cameron as well has really made them a very different proposition this year. As we all know (just ask Brisbane) finals is a different season but they are hard to fault.

Through the incoming 5+ year rebuild?

Yeah easiest draw of all teams. We don't have to play against the Cats. How lucky!

P.S. Collingwood weren't expected to be in finals, and the Eagles not expected to be this bad.

Flanders couldn't be playing much worse if he tried. Doesn't look like a high pick the Suns need to worry about keeping. Could be lucky to be on a list in a couple of seasons.

I agree. If we get Collingwood, they have been playing at a finals-like intensity for the best part of a month so they'll be switched on early.
No way Geelong goes through to the grand final if we lose week one. This isn't a shortened season and reduced quarters like it was in 2020. It's a must win scenario.

Reminder:

We can only beat who we play against. Which at the moment is the last 11 opponents we’ve had.

Again. Tell us what we should have done - should we have lost? Should we have played with 1 less person on the field? Given away a 5 goal start each week?

Yeah well we have all been waiting since 2011 for them to dip and they haven't really.
That can happen when a team keeps topping up.

14 of their best 22 are 30+ next year. Most of them will likely retire within 2 years. When you have that many old farts, it eventually does hit.

The same thing was going to happen to them in 2015, but they got Dangerfield and proceeded to keep topping up. There are no more Dangerfields ready to go to Geelong for Dean Gore.

The point is not to get carried away. It's getting really boring seeing plonkers like yourself hype your team up on the back of easy wins against rabble.

You should've lost to Richmond, but you sniped Prestia out of the game.

To be fair, it's possible to have a fixture that should be difficult at the start of the season, and then have it not end up that way.

The Swans are in the same boat as the Cats in terms of the double-ups across the top 8 sides last year.

That smother attempt from Flanders sums up bottom sides. Had no interest whatsoever to smother. Pulled his body out of the way and made a pretend hands up smother.
