So are we, we're playing for top 4, and a home final. We have alot to play for and need the win. We should be back to our normal high pressure game next week, which was missing today.

Clearly Elliott was affected by the flu if he wasn't used as a mid at any stage. That makes me hopeful that we were hampered by illness.

Beaten by a better side on the day on their home deck, we'd be better next time with a few more "IN's". No shame in losing for the first time in 3 months. We butchered a few chances and they took theirs, their keepings off brand works and we'll have to sort out how to play that next time. I hope we get to play them on the G next year!

I'm a big believer that the loser always learns more than the winner.
A question i always ask after a contest is "who can grow more"?

Can the swans play better than what they did? Maybe 10%.
Apart from a few shots, they had an amazing amount of things go their way.

How can we improve next time?
Well firstly, there wasn't much that went right.
So the club will be very confident with what we learn and how we played.

We don't win the prelim in 2018 without losing to the tigers two times in the season.

Think Fly is secretly happy this happened...easily 3 hours of footage coming up.

Next week will tell whether we are a contender or not....how we learn and respond to this.

Today the swans smashed us. Credit to them.
I have them as a GF team.

But we had nothing work.
So i'll await out turnup next week....

The games this week have tightened up with scoring to more dour affairs.

This may continue into the finals as teams are less daring. We may have to try and start our games less offensively, and try to finish with our trademark spurt.

Today our mids did our ok but our forwards looked off and beaten up a bit. It’s a shit toy ground made for Longmire style teams and I’d happily play this mob at the G.

We dropped a lot of marks up forward and spoiled each other down back. Very flat today and still only lost by 27. It looked like AJ was going to have a blinder in the first, just couldn't stick a few chances and copped a few terrible kicks to him.

Little boy Callum plays with a flu each game

As a supporter /club we are a broad diverse group it would seem.
For the life of me, i cannot comprehend a supporter describing one of ours in that way.

We looked completely outplayed from start to finish today but to the boys credit they never gave up and the 27 point margin after such a shocker suggests we aren’t too far away from a top 2 side.
They haven’t got much more to offer yet nearly every one of our boys would want to improve on that effort.

We are one tall player short and it showed today inside 50 especially against defences who are good in the air

Not sure about this.

Their goals and most of ours came from chaos balls or run through the centre and getting out the back.
Heeney, Haywood, Mills even Buddy were from a tap over the top from Heeney and a roved ball spilled by Moore and Howe.
This ground is short and easy to contest in the air....when you're not crashing into your own teammates.

How many goals came from contested marking situations today for either team?

I'd struggle to name them and B&F counting rewards playing lots of games, so Adams/DeGoey won't be finishing ahead of him.
Josh could go close to winning it. He's been a lot more influential than Crisp in recent weeks.

Swans the better side, will be extremely tough to beat on that oval. Thought we hung in there and were pretty brave.
Just a couple of observations.
Confirmation that we are paper thin for depth was again highlighted against the better sides. Our ability to cover outs extends to about 2.

Swans extremely aggressive, particularly their aerial defending, lots of arm chops/ear massaging, making kicking inside fifty really difficult.
We really struggled forward of the ball all, only AJ looked a threat in the air.

JDaicos our best, his work rate ultra impressive. Pendles/Bruzz OK.
Key forwards very quiet but it was tough for them, IQ had a very poor game.

I actually thought Cal was alright today. Better than I expected, but depth is pretty much the ceiling for him this year and potentially always.

He can definitely get the ball, but he’s indecision with disposal is so frustrating.

The more he touches the ball the worse it is for us for the reasons you mentioned.

Both are clearly positives.
