Coach 2022 Coaching

It's only one that has really come into focus this year for me.
The way commentators including the likes of Roo and Joey talk about how clubs like Geelong and Sydney instill players to be great leaders and how that is passed on to the next gen.

Did they drop the ball themselves?

We can blame coaches till we go blue in the face but if the players from the successful years don't actually help foster that growth as well, shouldn't they cop a bit of heat? Especially when some like to throw heat at the club as part of their jobs?
Totaly agree Roo sooked it up for years, when we were starting to rebuild he knew his dream was over & blamed the younger players on the list how many times did he berate players on the ground in his final years.

Our side or club will never be as good as the 09-10 era just ask Rooey,Joey & Goddard

Yeah we can only guess. My belief is that the gameplan is created as a group, so if there's issues with it they're all to blame.

So no one is to blame for the game plan? Okay.

They all are, thought that was pretty obvious?

So we can't apportion any blame to any one person so can't expect any change? Socialism of responsibility sounds ideal. We need a review into why it isn't working if they can't work out how to change themselves IMO.

It's part of our corporate ethos:

Together we Rise - It Takes All of Us.

It's the no blame culture as you can't apportion blame to anyone in particular, its everyone's fault as a unit.

Might work well in the corporate world, but not sure it works well in a sporting environment where you need individual heroes and you have an actual winner and loser every week. Results in the sporting world are Black and White, there is no grey area.

we measure success by how inclusive we are and by correct use of pronouns

We probably do have a review each year though don't we? Aren't some coaches being moved on?

"Hey guys, we aren't going to be bossy and tell you what you have to do. Just take it easy and run your own fitness programs this year". WTF could go wrong.

It’s just crazy poor standards
Max’s kicking has been a problem for 3 years and has got worse not better

The difference between Essendon 16 flags and St Kilda 1. They have two unacceptable seasons and arrange a review. They now look like entering the Clarkson race and moving on their bum coach.

Saints on the other hand, extend our coach for another 2 years, mediocrity on repeat.

Yeah you're right, we need to be more like Essendon :drunk:

That has to be the funniest thing. They made finals last year. They were willing to keep Rutten until yesterday. They are now trying for the hail mary and it will no doubt blow up in their face. The funniest thing ever. They've lost their president and their coach in 24 hours.
And they still have Dodoro.

I hope the rumour that lenny is returning is not just being put out to calm the fans.
I hope we're getting Lenny because he can coach, not just because of the "I love Lenny" factor.
How was he regarded at GWS, when he actually had a very good midfield list?

do you think their 16 flags means a single thing to their supporters now? I guarantee the people who are content sitting through their dumpster fire of a century while clutching onto their premierships of years gone by are laughed at by the rest of the fans as happy clappers.

They've had 20 odd years of being pathetic and useless. Like us except they didn't get those grand final losses, they didn't even get close like we did.

I don't know where you get these wild assumptions from. It's the coaching group as a whole who are to blame, they are the ones that collectively develop the gameplan.

Ultimately the responsibility lies with the head coach, but blame and responsibility are two different things.

LOL

We're nothing to write home about but we're better than Essendon and have been for the last 20 years

Essendon have ****ed themselves through cheating, we've ****ed ourselves through mediocrity.

They're just as mediocre now days too.

The thing that annoys me is they will get access to another young gun in the draft... Just highlights how much we really ****ed up our drafting when we were a bottom 4 club.

They are but post cheating players walked out and they've really struggled to move forward. Carlton seemed to do the same when they were caught. It's like it damages the soul of the place. Prior to the drug saga they were moving forward and had a decent side. They still seem burdened by it all.

Clarko is probably a good move for them because it's like they need shock treatment to snap them out of their own heads. He'll bring standards and expectations that players follow or move on. I'm just worried we'll get left behind again.

They have some really good kids that fell away this year but their future looks a lot better than their recent past.
