Played an absolute cracker of a game yesterday. Career-best by a long way.

27 disposals (@96% DE)
17 marks
13 intercept possessions
11 contested possessions
8 rebound 50’s
7 intercept marks
5 contested marks
3 ‘hanger’ type marks
1 goal
Just 1 turnover
133 SuperCoach points

Was the sort of game he’s threatened to play, but never put together before.

Can play either end. Hope we don’t lose him if that’s any sort of sign of things to come.

His only knock is sniping random players for no reason lol

Yeah he doesn’t exactly have the worlds longest fuse! Absolutely hard as nails though.
Well... I don't mind the occasional campaigner or low life or a##hole being sniped at. But you can't do it every game, very likely to get suspended with some of the hits he did.

I'm not denying he is hard as nails.

But if Ben Long was averaging 20 disposals a game and averaged 10-15 goals a season, he would be a handy player

Haha sniping.

Dopey ruckmen leading with their head should be more aware.
Well I remember a Freo vs saints game 2 seasons ago. Yep that infamous game you guys had a 5-6 goal lead over us in 1/4 time and lost, Ben Long sniped one of freos players late in the game. It was a nasty hit too.

Feel he is a very Polarising player down at Saints land, There seems to be a core group that like his aggression and attack on the ball and then there is another led by the sole admin of a famous facebook page that can't stand him in the team. I feel like he's one that can grow into a decent role player somewhere if he gets some continuity.

Dees went hard on him previously so might have another look again. Wouldn't mind him but not sure where he would fit in other than a Hibberd replacement.

He's actually had heaps of goes, 15+ games in each of the last four seasons. Admittedly one season was in the backline, a couple mostly in the forward line, and this season he's played both ends.

He just teases. People love his aggression but his production is pretty low unfortunately. Probably the least predictable player on the list - occasionally he plays like he did on Sunday, most of the rest of the time he's anonymous. Against Adelaide this year he played 83% game time for 4 touches and 2 tackles. Against Brisbane the first time 83% for 10 touches and 2 tackles. When he has a quiet day, he has a really quiet day.

Would love to see him make it, ideally with us but if we can find him a spot elsewhere for a late second then probably win-win.

He doesn't get the ball enough to be a walk up start.

But we do love the carnage that he can leave behind him, we have a very 'nice' group of players otherwise.

Just don't think we'd bother to do the deal for a future 3rd unless he was really agitating for it, may as well keep him hanging around and hope he can take his opportunities. Future 2nd or late current 2nd feel more compelling imo.
You're not getting a 2nd round pick for a bloke whos never averaged more than 12 disposals a game

Saints won't be setting any prices if another club comes knocking with a multi year offer.

Especially North, Eagles or Essendon.

And no-one is paying a 2nd rounder for him. A fringe role player who has shown glimpses but yet to cement himself in the side. Regular medi sub.

Turns out he got the 10 coaches votes (in a losing team) for that final game.

That game alone might make him an extra $50K or more on what he would have gotten had he not played that day.

Just watch Essendon swoop on Ben Long and Junior Rioli with $$$$ no-one else will pay.

Club has strong ties to the Tiwi's and it would add some positive news to the place. Sheedy would approve.

And both can play.
