Why wouldn't be want to improve our 2nd forward options from some the most mediocre options in the competition and give our more important asset genuine support throughout games?
Because i would rather put time into someone who is going to be around for 5-10 years not two years , we have gone down this path before and how did that turn out

I wonder if Ron ever felt the need to comb his chest.

I'm fine with cutting most of our list over 26ish

What will we get for jack steele, jack sinclair and rowan marshall?

A: the next 15 wooden spoons.

Our next flag tilt will coincide with the likes of Max King and Windhager hitting their straps in 3-4 years for mine.

Right in time for marshall, sinclair, steele to be 30 year old b-graders.

How are we any closer to a flag than right now?

A: we are not.
This thinking is how teams get stuck perpetually rebuilding for 20+ years.
(We're 11 years in now and will be 15 years into a rebuild in the timeframe you are looking at.)

The window never opens if you don't actually throw everything at trying to win a flag when the bulk of your list are in their prime years.
The bulk of our list are in their prime now and in the next couple of years.

Unless we completely gut the list (guys like marshall and steele etc included being on the chopping block), then a 3-4 year window is not an option.

I’m a believer in Sharman and Hayes.
But Hayes coming back from ACL
And cooper better suited to a Back role until he packs a bit more muscle on.

Gunston could be handy for a year or 2.
Best case scenario, Hayes or Sharman push past him and he’s a handy depth player.

I said most over 26. As of today, that list comprises of these 15:

1 Ryder, Patrick
2 Geary, Jarryn
3 Hannebery, Daniel
Campbell, Tom
Ross, Sebastian
Webster, Jimmy
4 Hill, Bradley
Wood, Mason RA
Crouch, Brad
5 Kent, Dean
Membrey, Tim
Lienert, Jarrod
Sinclair, Jack
6 Jones, Zak
7 Billings, Jack

"Most" of 15 would indicate eight players. I've labelled seven. Not bad off the top of my head. But you know, that seems outrageous to you and 15 spoons coming up!

Three years with a genuine gun ruck in Ryder was pretty good. Did a lot of Marshall's football too, even if Marshall went past him this year.

I'd rather give King the best possible set up with a genuine gun forward as a partner to take some pressure off him. We can't continue to let him be mauled by multiple defenders every week and expect our forward line to improve.

I’d be devastated to lose a talented, multiple premiership star in Hill. I guess I could consider trading him for some crumby old LDU and the lesser McKay if it was a package deal…
LDU has a better disposal & kicking efficiency than Karl Amon

And some club is gonna pay that outside uncontested possession winner $700k go go at 63% KE 😂🤮🤦🏻‍♂️

No to Gunston, no to Anderson, no to Zuheer, no to this gop's.
We have a list full of gop's, aim for high quality and hit the draft.
Let's face it, we are years from a flag. We need at least two years in the finals before having a tilt.
Are we serious about a flag or are we after sugar hits?

Aren't the first 5 already gone? Hill a maybe not but we don't need to do much to see them off.
Jones and Billings. Jones maybe, but Billings is contracted.
Can Billings get fit and do a Seb Ross. Always hoping.

I guess it depends when you think we might be contending.

There's no point bringing him in if we're not in the window. Sure we might be better if he played for us, but every decision we make needs to be aimed at a premiership.

Not sure about Zuheer, but Zurhaar has a tonne of upside.

Bytel and Ratts haven’t been seeing eye to eye this year, will most likely be seeking a trade. Information from some one who was apparently told this form Bytel.
It’s funny, I would have thought ratts would love dunstan and bytel, both players in his own mould.
But he seems to detest them and prefer Brad hill types, the complete opposite of himself.

Truth is that $600k+ is probably about the going rate for a quality outside runner.

I think Melbourne signed Langdon up for $550k a year 3 years ago. He seems to go alright.

Getting the best out of Max King is how we win a premiership.

I don't want to spend the next few years complaining about him getting mauled in every contest or that we are too focused on him because lack a decent 2nd option. If someone like Gunston can come in and immediately help King, we would be stupid not to try it to give the most important player the best chance possible to fulfil his potential.
