We’ve all heard the Eddie McGuire story before, but how good would it be to have such an elite operator at your club. Love or hate him in the commentary setting, he went after what was best for his club!

I watched this thinking it was going to be another standard footy bloke chat, but wow: so much more.

Roo is searingly honest about how his career ended, his feelings watching his cousin win a GF, the club under Blight, Thomas and Lyon, playing culture differences between his day and now and his media career now.

Personal (not Nick's) takeaways:

GT might have plenty of faults but God I would love the club to get his influence on our team's leadership and mentality. It's unbelievable that we don't still have the off-season programmes that he pioneered. We need that right now more than ever, please AB at least just keep talking to him.

Max King must absolutely take control of his career, totally agree with Roo. Saints aren't going to punish him are they? Whatever advice he's currently getting isn't working.

Imagine the carnage if Eddie had got his man and Roo had finished his career as a Pie? On top of all the other shit Collingwood have done to **** us, that would have been horrendous. Don't know why but still don't hate them like I hate the Dons or the Blues, but if they'd poached Roo? A very different story.

Our club prematurely "retired" him and for what? In the end it was good for Nick but it was yet another dumb decision from our brains trust. Goddam it.

Based on the few videos I've seen, Dylan Buckley is such a good interviewer, seriously the best I've seen inside footy or outside. I hope he keeps his own podcast going and doesn't get homogenised by the corporate media, but hopefully it becomes something bigger and other footy media can follow his path rather than the Robbo/Garry Lyon/etc path.
