Would we be happy if we were targeting Thomas with a serious offer this year?

We loved him in his draft year, he has potential to be a very powerful highly skilled big bodied mid.

Would cost a serious price, would be worth it imo.

Hopper looks like he is off to the Cats.

JHF seems out of reach to me. Got to let him go and be North champ.

I would be very content with adding Rankine, Thomas, Michalanney this off season [emoji23]

I dont know a whole lot about Poulter, What position would he play for us?

Had a LOT of versatility in his draft year, capable inside/outside and can get forward. Pies used him in his first year on the wing, and I personally thought he looked pretty good.

Just surprised a 193cm versatile midfielder, who is still only 19, would have been persisted with a bit longer.

Carmichael coming in got games straight away as an inside mid, so they clearly don’t rate him much there. My guess is players like Sidebottom came back into form and pushed him out coming into the season.

Decent stats in the VFL, certainly worth a crack if we have the list space

Would prefer Carmichael.

I’ll be honest I was disappointed we didn’t take him, but he seems to be primarily used on the inside, and it’s just not a need for us.

An area we need to fix is our speed, pressure and work-rate just about everywhere else outside the contest (on the inside our numbers are pretty good)

Outside the contest we are getting burned by teams that have good support and run through the ground and we’re just lacking defensive pressure overall, and allowing far too many Inside 50 entries per game.

From memory Poulter had a pretty good work rate, offence and defence, but wasn’t great with his disposal by foot.

Seemed to me a far less polished Will Day, but given his age could come good.

With Seedsman likely going out of the team it’s certainly a positional need for us to get a bit of speed/height on the wing

Poulter plays a bit like Nankervis from what I've seen. I think we should only grab players that will definitely get games with us. I don't think he would.

Nankervis has shown a bit, but Poulter a known quantity at this stage, and feels like his ceiling is higher.

Poulter is only 7 months older than Nakervis..

Caleb Poulter, would come home to SA play footy if there is an opportunity.

I've been told to watch this space

Source? Get Scorpus to pop it on the official rumour thread if it’s anything legit

Cook and Nankervis need to develop into that wing/half forward type. Cook was disappointing towards the end of the year in the SANFL and needs to get a lot fitter and stronger. He has the tricks but his body seems to be letting him down and he needs to be tougher in contested footy. Nank looks to be developing well and should give us some of that run and speed we lack. We need to get Dawson on the wing as well as he is wasted down back.

Personally I see him as too similar to Finlay MaCrae, and can’t play them both .

Don't agree with the higher ceiling bit given Poulter came through an elite program right through his junior football whereas Nankervis only got a gig in the Dragons system in his top age year and then only played a handfull of games at the level.

Poulter would be a nice pick up if the price was right, I'd sooner use a later pick on him than a prospective draftee around that point in the draft

Agreed.

Well most on the Pies board aren’t too enamoured with him, and reckon he’s likely a delist. Could be a straight swap with Frampton if, again, we have the list space.

Why would Fig sign an extension in the off season?

FOG is absolutely zero flight risk at theis stage and Richmond would have been in his ear at the beginning of the season when he was struggling to make the best 22

FOG manager would be advising FOG to have a massive off season and strong start to 2023 to set him up for a healthy and long term renewal with AFC

not if Richmond are already offering a contract that presumes his continued progression towards A gradedness. Tigers might have $800k on the table now whilst we're saying 'no, not yet, you need another really good year and then we'll reconsider what you're worth'. He wouldn't be the first we've lost because they've been offered expected value over current value.
