Or, the way the game is heading, a hyper big bodied, athletic and coordinated midfielder who is big enough to ruck also. Only way to get one of those is having pick 1 when one comes along.

They actually won the flag last year. Maybe they don't win that if they had Lynch instead of Gawn.

While they might have won the flag last year, they are an extreme outlier when it comes to having a gun ruck in a premiership side. This year their forward stocks are worse and could really use someone like Lynch over having the best ruck in the competition (which is a low value position)

However the premier almost always has one of the top bunch of key forwards in the league

I would be extremely disappointed if Thilthorpe became our lead ruck instead of developing him into a gun key forward

Given he's a really mobile big guy who can get up and down the ground, I see a lot more Lance Franklin than Max Gawn.

Still baffles me that they left Franklin as a key forward when he could have effectively been an extra mid as a ruck.

That's my point. Just because Thilthorpe COULD be a ruck, doesn't mean that's where he will be most value.
