He’s an inside mid but really needs to take his fitness to another level.
He’s got the ability/game and the hard edge needed.
Really hoping he stays, smashes pre season and consolidates his place in the team.
He could be the type of player you’d like alongside you in September but it’s up to him to do the hard yards and build a career …

He won't get a look in at Carlton, too many types like him.

There is plenty of competition for him as an inside mid but he has natural “mongrel” to go with his game that you imagine would appeal to Voss.
He just needs to be fitter … much fitter

He has shown nothing as an inside mid.
And probably only slightly more as a half back flanker.

Not missing 4 months of a preseason this coming yeah (as he did last with his syndesmosis ankle injury) will help that to no end.

Needs to do about 2x weight sessions a week. The rest just running and injury prevention.

Haven't seen much of him, without trolling which is prevalent on this board,the interest will be that he has upside and would come cheap.

He had a really good year in 2021 as a mid-sized defender in what was his first season of senior footy.

Has all the attributes to make it as a gritty back pocket - toughness, competitive, decent read of the play, booming kick. He was injured throughout the season and that impacted his prospects with our small and mid-sized defenders being reasonably settled - Docherty, Saad and Newman most weeks.

There was one game he was dropped after playing an absolute stinker, trying to execute passes into the middle on his opposite foot, but mainly missed due lack of others sitting ahead in the pecking order.

He's not going to replace Newnes, who plays an outside role. Maybe he could play as an inside mid, but there is a clear design for him to play and get settled in defence which just hasn't happened yet. I expect he'd play out the season as a lockdown defender next year.

If that happens he'll definitely be at a new club in '24.

I said ss had a better ceiling which he does. And he was unlikely to reach it. Which he hasn't. I also Wondered how many finals Walsh would play in 3/3

Back to stocker who is the main man to talk about even with Carlton not making the 8 it's a very serious midfield. Wonder how he breaks in?

The back 6 is another discussion but his future may be elsewhere I feel

Personally think that his opportunities in 2023 will be determined by the pre season that he has.
Is very tough and likes to hurt people but at the moment can't play midfield. Might have a break out year in 2023 but I imagine the club will look at him at the end of next season to determine what his future will be.
Voss clearly likes him (as you would imagine) and played him pretty much all of the time when he was uninjured - this was also helped by injuries to guys who play a similar role like Newman, Williams and Boyd.
Played on Elliott in the last game and did an excellent job, from memory for some reason he was on the bench when Elliott kicked the match winner and a poster said that he sas also on the bench when Elliott kicked his other goal for the day.

In summary we'd hoped to get a tough inside mid and there's been no hint of that. However there is every chance that he can end up as a tough as nails Luke Hodge type (clearly not as good but similar style). 2023 (if he gets a good pre season) will tell us what he ends up being. Can't see that being at anywhere apart from Carlton.
