I guess he isn't going anywhere unless we pay half his wage.
He's only got 1 year left, and I suspect it was a pretty modest contract given the lack of interest around at the time. If we've got the cap space (which it sounds like we do, and considering we finished 14th we SHOULD) and there was a half decent trade on offer then I'd be willing to pay all of it just to free up the list spot and allow him and us to move on. It's a sad way for it to end for a guy who was B&F for our club (and All Australian that year, too), though.

Won't be the end of the world if we keep him.

At 27, he's got years left at AFL level if he's willing to change his game and 1 year if he doesn't. Massive incentive to work on becoming a damaging 2 way runner.

I rate Keays as mature midfield cover for our current team until the kids (and future draftees) come on. But I wouldn't be against Keays being the cornerstone of our Rankine trade if it's needed for us to keep our high end picks.

Crouch COULD be used as that midfield cover if Keays wasn't here (but I'd play the kids).

In terms of list numbers heard a decent rumour that Luke Brown will retire to join the fireies.

Hoping this leads to the start of a successful shock jock career.

Huh? He's not changing his game this is the final version of Crouch. Athletically this is it before he becomes even slower. With Rankine, Peds and Rachele in the wings we have plenty of mid cover/depth. Hately is the depth we can retain at a much lower cost than Crouch.

Reckon that was the game in 1999 after we won the premiership the previous year in 1998. Remember this game as I was there. We were never in it. It was a Mothers Day massacre.

Interesting they kicked 22.9 after kicking 8.22 in the GF. Good kicking is good footy I guess.

Our boy is named after two of our best players. He never had an option even though we live in QLD and he now lives in Melbourne. has photos of himself and two said players from two weeks of age until they respectively retired. Crows through and through!
What!
You called your son Smarty Jarsmod!!! 😜👍

But seriously...
Love the dedication to the club Jenny. Naming a son like you have admits you to the eternal inner sanctum of true believers. ❤️

I dont think matt has anything left to give at AFL level.. and I just dont think he’s the type that can change his game unfortunately.

Keays is another.. the game hasnt got a place for blokes that have poor skills but have gotten by in the past due to having very high workrates..

There are so many good young players that are well trained and developed before they even hit an AFL list coming through these days that teams are packing their lists with class, skills and xfactor..

We simply cannot have players that have poor skills continue to get games because they “gut run” over lads that have class, poise, skills and top football brains.

We’ll get nowhere.

Have a look at the top clubs.. the Dees, geelong..

Theres vitually no weaknesses in their 22’s..

I have absolutely no idea why the suns, with their stacked midfield and midfield depth (that they will also no doubt add to at this years draft), would need a crouch or keays..

Neither of them would make the Suns best 22.

And if you think they would.. go right ahead.. name the Suns midfielder that they’d replace. I’m all ears.

Did your sons ever live in SA?

I ask because Im curious as to how much AFL is played and supported up in QLD.
Nope. Visited lots of times. Loves Adelaide and would live there if the opportunity arose. He played auskick from the age of 4 -7 then club footy right through until year 10. Gave it up in years 11 and 12 (wanted to play soccer with his mates at school - nearly disowned him then! 😜🤣). Still a footy tragic and is taking his many international friends to games in Melbourne and explaining it to them.

What's his name?
Androo?

The SUNS are making sure that people won't want to stay there. Of course money talks, it is how they got players like Atkins Choi and Ellis to leave their respective clubs, seems fairly hypocritical to act like this when it happens to them.
I reckon the SUNS are quietly shitting themselves knowing the floodgates will open with Rowell and Anderson next year to come (which Vic media will celebrate of course).

Yeah, but with Hamish at the wheel we're not actually getting those players onto our list. We're getting the good lads from good families that have elite preparation and training standards.

Can you please explain Fogarty, Thilthorpe, Rachele, Soligo, Cook and Taylor's bad skills to me or even Jimmy Rowe...I must be missing something surely

Jones's skills are actually very good he's just a poor decision maker and can't win easy ball.
Sholl at his best is an elite kick.
Parnell hopefully settles next year into what we have seen at SANFL level.
Schoenberg is actually very nice by foot. Weights the ball on the lead.

Well there you go so it appears Hamish does get a lot right then hey..

Would you agree that several at least go pretty well in the "class" category and several do pretty well in the X factor category as well.

I would be very interested in Tarryn Thomas. Especially if he came at an unders price point due to this year's form.

Still think that kids got a very high ceiling
