Well there you go so it appears Hamish does get a lot right then hey..

Would you agree that several at least go pretty well in the "class" category and several do pretty well in the X factor category as well.
I would agree they have class, I would also suggest many of them are poor decision makers and that should have filtered them out.
Parnell and Schoenberg are still capable of developing that out of their game.

Billy Frampton (Adelaide) and Bobby Hill (GWS)

“Collingwood are bringing in Dan McStay, but Billy Frampton I’m told is basically over the line at Collingwood.

“He will come in from Adelaide, Bobby Hill as well, barring any late hiccups.

“A Jordan Roughead replacement, if you like, is Billy Frampton.

“Imagine Bobby Hill and Jack Ginnivan in the same forward line as well, Dan McStay and what that might do for Brody Mihocek.

“You can see what Collingwood is trying to do to better balance that list.”

I don't think you will find a poster that says Hamish doesn't get some right, its posters who can't acknowledge when he doesn't, especially with 4 dud first rounders, perhaps they should be the one self reflecting before passing comment ;)

If only drafting was a perfect science....and one of those busts was a coach's pick or otherwise Tim English would likely be our leading ruck now. Probably the most skilled ruck in the AFL today, certainly kicking wise.

Oh cmon, that’s embarrassing. If Hamish didn’t rate Gallucci he wouldn’t have picked him full stop.

And no one said it’s an exact science, but with all the work and information recruiters have at their disposal, to **** up 4 first rounders is inexcusable. Unless you’re looking to make excuses ;)

Rubbish.
The coach wanted speed and run Gallucci was the best available in that regard at that point in the Draft.

Our boy is named after two of our best players. He never had an option even though we live in QLD and he now lives in Melbourne. has photos of himself and two said players from two weeks of age until they respectively retired. Crows through and through!

Bond…..James Bond??

Huh? He's not changing his game this is the final version of Crouch. Athletically this is it before he becomes even slower. With Rankine, Peds and Rachele in the wings we have plenty of mid cover/depth. Hately is the depth we can retain at a much lower cost than Crouch.
Hately is probably currently being paid more than Crouch.

Hately is on what we offered him to leave GWS for nothing. Crouch is on what we had left after no one in the league wanted to give him anything.

Jones's skills are actually very good he's just a poor decision maker and can't win easy ball.
Sholl at his best is an elite kick.
Parnell hopefully settles next year into what we have seen at SANFL level.
Schoenberg is actually very nice by foot. Weights the ball on the lead.
Pedlar is almost 100% X factor. I wish he was MORE run of the mill.

One wonders if he had chosen to go to Essendon would there be this much scrutiny over it.

Didn't they allegedly offer the same/similar amount as us?
Will be interesting to see how the media react if Tim Taranto goes to Richmond. Higher draft pick than Rankine, poached from an expansion club. Couple years older sure, but pretty similar scenarios.

You are right, Hamish didn't rate Gallucci, he was forced to pick him and it had nothing to do with Hamish's opinion on Gallucci.
You're wrong, I've posted the link to our former 2nd in charge recruiter Phil Bunn's trade radio interview numerous times where he layed it out how we came to pick Gallucci and not the guy the recruiting team had settled on Tim English, basically Pyke overruled then wanting more speed and run... And whether you agree or not at that point in the Draft Gallucci was the best available in that regard on what he'd shown for the Eastern Ranges in the then TAC Cup, Nationals and at the Draft Combine testing that year.

I’m not wrong, I’ve never said Hamish didn’t rate him, you have when you’ve downplayed Hamish selecting him. He had to rate him pure and simple, those are the facts and he was wrong.

Just like he was with McAsey ;) Jones and McHenry. But hey, what does it matter, they are only 4 first rounders.

You see Mutineer this is why you should never criticise other posters when they express an opinion on Hamish's drafting. Unlike you, we acknowledge his good ones, you on the other hand make excuses for the duds. Hell you are bagging McAsey without any blame on Hamish for using pick 6 on him.

Stop being a cheerleader.

On Gallucci .....lets face it, the talent was there .....the work-rate wasn't ..that's on the player !
