Reading Stavro, I think he's pretty on the money usually.
What specific deals do you think we will make that suggest we are re-setting and aiming to go down the ladder?

If Hill Long Clark all left.

+ Hanners Ryder Geary Joyce Kent Kyle

With rumours on NWM Jones Bytel Byrnes.

That is a significant change over.
That's 5 regular top 22-ish. The others no real loss.

I'd say that's too many for my liking - unless we get significant potential to upgrade, in picks or players.
I'm a bit risk averse though, but I'd hate to land up like Norf after they gutted their list.

Clark the traditional "P" player ..... Potential if he wants to move out of that category he needs to pull his finger out of his @rse and get on with it other wise it will be another wasted career & while were sooking it broke my heart when Glenn Elliott left and went Melb in 1979, serious we still debating past trades and drafts stop holding a grudge all clubs make mistakes.

Where are you getting this from? I think you need to breathe, we said we were after De Goey why would we do that if we are doing a refresh? The club will absolutely be aiming for finals next year.
Come on, you know better than this. When it's time to blame the coaches for everything then the list is ready to contend and when it's time to blame the list manager for everything then we're just after a quick fix and looking to rebuild.

I'm not against the JDG appointment at all. I reckon he is an absolute gun.

To land him and drag him away from Collingwood, I expect the money which this will take will make him the highest paid AFL player of all time.

Who would have thought this a few weeks ago. The 2014 draft ... WOW ... we just keep revisiting it on an almost monthly basis.

Yes his busted jaw, busted shoulder and compound fracture of the nose was plainly all his own fault.

Delist

Keep... still extremely young ... only 23, some players can't put bulk on until their mid to late twenties.

The posters on here saying he is lazy etc, have no idea at all.

He is one of our most talented players and has the most X-factor, you can't pick these things in a draft.

Has never looked fit, hasn't taken his chances in the middle his injuries aside he has been under achieved did i say delist no he needs to pull his finger out get serious or we move him on we need to start improving and stop excepting middlw of the road sides he might be part of the reason we stagnate.

Sounds like we are about to refresh so finals probably off the cards for another couple of years. I'm so ******* sick of waiting. Nothing much is going to change but we'll trim the depth and a few decent players for some kids who we hope might be better than what we have but persist with a terrible coach and strategist.

I'm happy if they want to go again but they need to change the staff that took us here in the first place or we'll be back here in 5 years with one or two people trying to muster the energy to give a s**t any more.
I think it’s the right move, we look more like a list that’s been culled after a successful run rather than a list about to launch one. We really just don’t have the A grade talent or depth of talent to push up much higher. Look we could probably add a piece or two and with a better fixture make the 8 but realistically that’s this groups limit.

If we’re trying to win a flag we need to have high end talent and quite a bit more of it. Missing youth because of drafts we traded out of has hurt us badly. Really when you think about it late picks and some astute trades have saved us from being a really terrible bottom 6 at best list. Marshall, Wilkie, Sinclair, Steele, crouch, membrey, butler, wood etc is really tremendous work.

I’d be trying to keep our talented players 25 and under but listening to overs offers on anyone.

And a prelude to a rebuild.
Arguably moving out Clark, Hill, Long - maybe even Jones, if done right.

Could put you in a position to do a Port post Wingard and compete.

Try target another teens pick (lions)

Grab Stocker, Hartigan as KPD Depth.

Questions only get asked of clubs when it’s doable.

Which means an agent has said 👍
So it's "doable" because hunter is OK either way, but it depends on whether the two clubs can work out an agreeable trade?
And hopefully, as he's contracted, it benefits us more. Especially if he is still happy to stay.

In an old team he was one of our few promising young talents so we traded him out hoping to get a promising young talent. Same as McEvoy. Pelican was one of the all time ******* idiots. Not much has changed since we gave him the arse though. List management at St Kilda has been so poor for so long that we are conditioned to believe that doing the same stuff over and over is good management.
Yeah McEvoy didn’t make much sense either!

Agreed

Posted this to some others this morning

I am of the firm belief that most players don't mature until 23-26, look at DMAC for example. Sincs while going ok for his career has blossomed in the past 3 years and is now 27, Wilkie couldn't get a gig until 24 and is now almost AA.
Our impatience comes from so much lack of success. I still have high hopes for both Coff and Clark. If they can get a good run of it without injury they can really show us what they have. A good example is Mason Wood. Playing almost the best football of his career because he has been injury free for virtually the first time in his career.

Would keep the likes of Coff, Clark, and Gres. Long, Hill and others can go if they like.

is everyone waiting with baited breath for brendan goddards opinion of a fair trade?im thinking it goes something like this

ham or francis of essendon would be worth trumps mar a lago mansion,a private jet & a dozen ferraris,while hunter clark would be worth a packet of boiled lollies & what donald gets his west wing house boy to scrape off his shoes after a round of golf
(geez its hard to remember that guys marks and individual gf games with any joy now)

Would love Hunts to stay, but he needs to spend all off season working on his tank. If he can’t go through the middle next year he’s a bit of a wasted talent
Clark has shown he is not prepared to do the work to become a professional AFL player. He still has the physique of an 18 yo with poor aerobic capacity. I think it would be a smart move by the club to put a rocket up the list, that this sort of preparation or lack thereof is not accepted.

This the first time there's been rumours of Clarke being avaliable or has it been floated before?

There are a million scenarios and each could be a winner or loser but major changes should only occur for the sake of a proper rebuild.
Change for the sake of justifying an inept coach is unforgivable at this point and I'm not going to jump on the "List is crap" bandwagon since I've now seen too much of StKilda under Ratten to quib with those who are short of memory.

Happy to move Hill, JB, Highmore, Webster.
NO F*****G WAY on Longy. I will be supporting the Suns at that point.

Stocker also has chronic anxiety so a long odds prospect at best.

We should be looking to the Pies for inspiration on how to drop baggage.
Hill = Treloar
JB = Stephenson
Ratts = Bucks

I think I started a rumour about two years ago but it did t grow legs.
