He could just dye his hair grey, rock up and say 'Hello, fellow pensioners'.

All jokes aside, Geelong do play kids, but there is nowhere to hide in the middle. They probably would love to get him cheap and develop him, but there is a reason they going after someone like Hopper, they have invested a lot for the now and not going to risk that by putting a 20 year old who averaged less than 12 disposals in the guts.

They will most likely still chase high-end mid targets even if they do get him. He would at least know he will get to play here if he is good enough and really, there are mostly just kids in our midfield, it would be fairly easy to push others out into fringe roles. With Clarkson coming in, there will be a fresh slate and people who can hit targets will be ahead of the queue.

I can picture the conversation now...

Telephone: Ring, ring, ring.
Bruhn: Hello?
North: Hey, I heard you wanted to come home to Victoria?
Bruhn: Yeah, Sydney sucks.
North: How would you like to come to North and be a depth player, you know, in case we have injuries, suspension or form problems?
Bruhn: ...click...
North: Hello? Hello?
Exactly, and what was he pick 12? I don't think the asking price is going to be as cheap as people think.

Because you should expect to be without 2 of your starting midfielders every year???????
Haha injuries mate. You named 6 players, two of which missed the entire season which illustrates why its important to have players on the list to cycle through. Bruhn also can play outside. I can't believe we are turning our nose up at a young, high quality player considering choosing North as his home. If he displace one of those guys because he is better then it is an even better move. Cunnington has two years, unlikely he goes on. There is room, we aren't just recruiting for next year speedy

I am happy to offer pick 1 for this Tanner guy as long as they throw in Toby Greene as a sweetener.

I have some serious doubts about Logue... I mean, that haircut.

Seriously? Have you seen my stand-in Captain?

Probably shown a little more than Caldwell.
If GWS are going to get picks for Taranto and Hopper they're going to end up with way more picks than they actually need or can use. So a later pick for Bruhn isn't going to be too attractive for them. They're far more likely to want a player or a future pick upgrade for one of them. Although as I said before, they did trade Jack Steele for a future second round draft pick. (Used on Brent Daniels)

Sure do. But anyone expecting all our holes to be filled with quality players in one off season is going to be disappointed. CHB is in my opinion our biggest gap so I'm very happy if it is filled with Logue who I rate highly and is perfect age wise.

I'd like us to address small forwards through the draft. Sheezel could be a good start. As we climb up the ladder, picking best available small forward with our first pick as Melbourne & Dogs did, is a way to get the absolute cream of small forwards.
Agree.

Remember also though that it is a cumulative impact - I would expect that filling a few key roles with best 22 mature talent will have flow on impacts across the ground.

My qualm is he is unproven and we already have his type. If he was a big bodied mid, or had more runs on the board, or was only going to cost a 3rd or 4th rounder I would say go for it. But I don't see that as the case? I'd rather draft the best mid in this years draft. Or draft a mid with a later pick who better compliments what we already have.

This might be an ignorant suggestion but if we don't go PSD with Bruhn (if he picks North) then does it make sense to trade back to 3 for Bruhn and a later GWS pick (to help get Logue, if he picks North)?

Then we pick Cadman, assuming that GWS really want Wardlaw or Tsatas.

A 26 year old CHB who is good in the air. 4 years will be the prime of his career!
This is awesome news. Our biggest preseason need fixed.
Now spend PSD pick 1 on him please.
I want it all and I dont want to spend anything!

I would be offering a future third for Logue.
Hopefully they reject it and we go PSD.
Very unlikely. But one can dream.
The PSD is like fools gold, but it would be great to see it happen. Hopefully a second rounder with something back will get it done.
Its our first trade target that actually makes sense to me.

Also unproven. Bruhn can play, had two years in the system, and most importantly is considering coming to us over the likely premiers this year. No one is proposing pick 1 for him, but shuffle the decks around and get him in for the right price. But if that ends up being a 2nd rounder or more in points with some later picks thrown in, do it.

He’s only 24 so even better.

Bruhn only had four games this year above 12 possessions, unsurprisingly his most prolific was against us.

He may well improve given the chance to head home but his first 30 games have been largely underwhelming.

Really want us to get Bruhn. Watched the first 3Q's against us, yes it's his best game and it was us but it was impressive. I could be wrong but I don't think he has to be played just as an inside mid like others think (even if that's his best spot).

My thought on just this game.
  • Really skilled, super footy smart and tough.
  • Reminded me on Toby.
  • Dangerous forward (kicked 2 against us on doggy frees v Hayden).
  • Think he could play all areas of the ground expect wing.
  • Damaging long kick and duel sided, toughness to play in defense (like Toby did in his 2nd year).
  • Clarkson may see another Sam Mitchell in this kid.
