If we were after Liam Henry it'd be purely on potential. He hasn't done much yet but I'd be keen.
On exposed form my boy Jimmy Rowe is a safer bet.

If we lose Dunks to Port for Pick 8, what do we actually do with 8 & 11 (9 & 12 after Ashcroft bid)? While it doesn't hurt at all, not sure we really need more early picks given we're trying to compete now and have had Picks 1 & 2 the last 2 years.
I'm in the minority and have no clue about list management but I'd love to get more young talent into the side. Youth can spark a side. Sydney have shown this in recent years.

Yeah agreed, turning into a bit of a young man’s game these days.

Either way I think this side needs a freshen up and a decent injection in youth can definitely have that effect. I know we’ve had Darcy & Marra but I guess it’s harder for talls to impact early so maybe they don’t have as much of an effect, whereas a couple of young hungry mids or pressure players can provide a real spark.

Perfect opportunity to do both considering we’ll have a good draft hand. Improve the side with experience whilst hit the draft

I'm hopeful we address some defensive issues at trade but I'm still all for hitting the draft if we end up with multiple first rounders. Focusing on trying to contend now at the expense of developing a list is how we end up in no-mans land. We dont have the ability of Richmond or Collingwood to just continually update the list from the Northern clubs. The A grade talent we're likely to have on our list moving forward will be drafted.
We've got an exciting young group of players starting from Naughton, Smith, JUH, Darcy and Weightman. Adding in some more high ceiling youth right now could make us an absolute force in a few years. Yes we need to continually try and plus some gaps but not at the expense of building around that young core.

Yeah and Richards and English still have improvement to come.

If we can get an good midfielder or two who will be able to contribute in a year or two and peak in 5-7 years when Bont etc are wrapping up that would be fine by me.

Completely agree. A club like us can never have enough young talent coming through. We’re never going to regularly snare the big fish to top up. Our next stars will almost definitely be drafted. A focus on competitive types with great leadership would serve us well.

The more I think about it the less I want to spend on Lobb, I really don’t hope this bites us on the ass. He’s had a really good season but he’s never even came close to producing what he did this year, he’s notoriously injury prone and turning 30. We’ve seen first hand the quick downfall of a similarly injury prone Keath. He’s not a good ruckman but admittedly will give us a better chop out than we’ve got.

If he’ll take a 2 + 1 year deal at 500k and we get him for a 3rd rounder then sure its worth the risk. I’d be sceptical to even give up our 2nd rounder though considering I think we need to start prioritising the draft again and 27 is a good pick.

Freo fans starting to realise both him and Logue are only netting them picks in the 20s & 30s. Is pick 11 overs for both? I’m not even sure at this stage tbh how to value them.
Lobb getting $500k a year because he is tall and can ruck a bit makes me want to spew up. Talk about over inflated wages

Damn add him to the Freo package😂 Lobb, Logue, Acres, Henry plugs a lotttta holes

Tbf haven’t followed how he’s been travelling since drafted but he’s behind a number of good smalls at Freo

One more genuine specialist small to go with a combo of Cody, West & McLean to round out the forward line would be nice

Do that and Freo can have Dunkley and a future first.

You think that is a lot, his choice is stay at Freo on $750k for 1 year then probably drop substantially or come to us on $500k or so for 3.

Not sure about that. Darcy has a lack of closing speed in defence and there was something a little bit special about his cameos in the forward line. Think he could be unbelievable up front with his height
Darcy is never going to be an AFL KPD.
