In terms of importance to them they’d well and truly have Brayshaw, Serong, Cox, Pearce, Young, Ryan and Tabener ahead of Acres. Then Darcy Brodie, Clark, Chapman all ahead too, and that’s just off the top of my head.

Gee Acres is a handy role player and an upgrade on O’Brien in terms of everything bar foot skills imo but he’s no more than a middle of the road role player.

From everything I’ve read since Saturday night people are head over heels thinking he’s a steal cause he got a few stats on the weekend.
If he was better than average he wouldn’t be the kind Freo would be low balling in his ‘prime’ regardless of Jackson. If he was worthwhile of keeping in their minds they’d be coughing up the extra 100k a year or whatever it took, plenty of ways to clear salary cap space on a list.

33+5=38, max=42. So 4 places now free, along with one free spot on the Rookie B list.

So wrapping my head around the list figures that Bletch posted:

If we re-sign Marchbank and add Acres that only leaves 2 list spots to fill at the draft.

That would almost certainly mean that Fogarty and Ed get delisted and Setterfield traded.

Unless we plan on trading out a contracted player, it seems like we’re making minimal significant ‘upgrades’ to the list. Instead we are backing in another pre-season of improving the game plan and hoping for a healthier list next year.

Yep, the 33 players on the senior list number includes the four players still waiting on a new contract. (Marchy, Ed, Setters, Fog)

My former bosses neighbour (Alanna I think her name is) was dating Acres 4/5 years ago when he was at the Saints. Not sure if still together. Not that it means a lot, but she spoke about him so glowingly. My boss had a 2 and 4 year old at the time and he was always over playing with the kids, she said back then he had no ego and was really down to earth. I think the type person the club would want for adding culture.
Also the neighbour was stunner, lucky fella
