James Hird has reportedly put his hand up for the vacant Essendon coaching role.
According to The Herald Sun’s Mark Robinson, Hird was believed to have been interviewed by the club’s selection committee on Wednesday.
Robinson says Hird’s decision came after several weeks of discussions with his family about returning to the job he resigned from in 2015.
Hird coached the club in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 and was famously suspended in 2014 following the Bombers’ supplements saga.

It's disturbing... and that is why it's hilariousI can't decide whether this is hilarious or disturbing.
The usual verbal diahrea Essendon apologia

There is no way that Robert Walls, Jordan Lewis etc recommend James Hird to coach. Clearly if he applies they have to interview him.
Would be madness if the club didn't accept the coaching panels recommendation. Not saying that it is not possible with * special brand of Kool Aid madness.
Why would you have to interview him? Like any job if you don’t feel the candidates resume or person is not a good fit no interview needs to be had. Heck I might as well apply.. I’ll get to meet Wallsy. There is no way that Robert Walls, Jordan Lewis etc recommend James Hird to coach. Clearly if he applies they have to interview him.

He was interviewed today.
If at the time of his fall from grace and subsequent slinking off to France, you suggested that within a 6 year period Hird would be back applying for the top job at * people would fall over laughing at the prospect.
It is such a Benny Hill situation of complete and utter farce and inappropriateness (is that a word) I struggle to comprehend how that joke of a club could even contemplate reinstating him.
In one sense I so want them to have him as head coach because only that putrid club would be brazen enough to do it.
On the other hand my sense of justice and fair play for the rest of the football world just can't stomach having that smug, egotistical, pathological cheat rise from the ashes.
If * as an entity imploded like a supernova tomorrow I wouldn't miss them for a millisecond.
