As much as we give selwood s**t for ducking u would have him involved in your club in a heartbeat
Done as a player
Perfect send off and deserves it

Imagine him and hayes in the youths ear about discipline hard work and team structure and roles??

Id trade him in for anyone but lenny atm
Get his old mate Gears to ask him for a favour

At the risk of trying to get this thread back on track, here is a task for those interested.
Give a Draft Pick rating for the players that have been flagged to possibly be leaving, interested in leaving or are out of contract.
No consideration being placed on paying part of their contract or which club would want them just a Player for Pick swap.

Here is my crack at it.
  • Clark: Pick 19
  • Hill: Pick 13
  • Long: Pick 35
  • Bytel: Pick 42
  • Byrnes: Pick 53
  • Highmore: Pick 47
  • Lienert: Pick 85
  • Campbell: Pick 70
My thoughts

Not enough for Clark
Too much for Hill
Too much for Long, but would be nice
Fair enough for Bytel, but might end up with less
Byrne's just signed
Might struggle to get anything for Highmore
Not sure why we'd want to give away Lienart and Campbell

My unsolicited take:
Hunter has done **** all and is perennially injured - he is 1 season and another injury away from being worth a future 3rd round moneyball for someone
Hill is a 3rd rounder money dump
Agree on Long
Bytel is worth sweet fa
Last three (not worth naming independently) are worthless

I haven't watched a single game this final series, first time in years, but feel really clear about what we need to do.
We need to turn over the list, quick smart. Thanks Brad, thanks Hunter, thanks Jack (Billing and Bytel).
This is probably controversial, but I'd have Tim Membery right at the tip of my list for sacrificial lambs. His point of difference is his standing vertical leap and that asset is one of the first things aging players lose. Team cohesion? Intangible benfit? Leadership? It's replaceable. Membrey has been playing his best up the ground, and that's a concern. He constantly holds up play and is a slow decision maker. He has a high potential to become a liability very quickly.

Don’t agree with having Brad crouch in that list he’s been important for us in midfield him and Steele are our two strongest contested ball winners

Pretty sure he means Hill.

There's is a rumour on the main trade board that Bowes last 2 years are over 1.3 mil per season which is why pick 7 is on the table.
Could be that we knew this was coming and decided that Bowes could play hc's role whilst also getting us a top 10 draft pick.
I could certainly tolerate Bowes and 7 for losing Clark.

I can see why pick 7 is on offer if that's true. Made a lot less sense with the previous estimate. Long and a 4th rounder should do it.

What number are we going to give De Goey?

Doubt that's the case - unless he was paying them for the first three years of his contract extension.

They'd just lost three players so they were desperate to keep players and did that by offering offering contract extensions. Would have underpaid for the first three years and then overpaid the last couple probably averaged out at $500k, so I'd be guessing at closer to $800k per year from now on.

That said if we got Bowes and Pick 7 for the cost of Clark, Long and some loose change I'd be rapt.

1.3 million PER SEASON???? Who in the actual **** is running that place if that is true.

I’m not really sure why Highmore isn’t getting a contract.

I rate him highly. Clearly to good for vfl.

Has the club delisted him or said there's no extension?

If we gave Clark, Long for an injury ridden Bowes with a huge contract and 7, I would be appalled.
Long should be enough if Bowes is a salary dump.
But reckon Clark too.... holy hell.

Replying to myself. Did not realise clubs are lined up to get that pick 7. I also read Bowes wants to go to only Geelong. We will have to work overtime to get him to even nominate us. Not appearing likely so why all the talk about the pick 7?

What Gallagher and Leathlean not there now ?
No we shouldn’t learn from our mistakes just keep doing them again and again

Isn't the list manager role almost an admin role?
Chris Libratore was the Recruiting Manager. I hope we aren't going to just replace him internally ( He was a state recruiter under Trout ) but time is running out before the draft.
