WEST Coast is open to splitting its prized No.2 draft pick for a double hit in the early stages of the draft.

The Eagles' selection is the earliest it has held since picking Nic Naitanui at No.2 in 2008 and the club will listen to offers for the choice if clubs are keen to move up the board.

The club has been interested in Luke Jackson but was not keen to put its No.2 up for grabs for him, but regardless of Jackson would still look at options in trading the second overall selection for more top-end picks.

Victorians George Wardlaw, Elijah Tsatas, Harry Sheezel, Jhye Clark and Aaron Cadman are all shaping as early draft selections, with Reuben Ginbey looking as the likely first West Australian drafted.

North Melbourne has also put its No.1 pick on the trade table, although clubs are unlikely to try to push up the board until other deals are completed and more clarity is known on the draft order.

Yes as expected by WCE no guarantee on any top 5 player unless your a Daicos , splitting is a chance hopefully not on draft night but next week ....!!

Hey fellas - I come in peace.

Bit of chat about Narkle so I thought I’d add my 2c.

Disclaimer, I am a Narkle fan and tend to view players with a half glass full versus empty philosophy.

He is an inside mid but does have some genuine dash away from the contest and can kick a goal. I also think he would go okay switching between half forward and in the guts. He is tidy, definitely nothing special by foot but he doesn’t butcher the pill.

A lot of commentary I’ve seen about his deficiencies is accurate. His defensive running can leave a lot to be desired and sometimes he lacks a bit of intensity, so he can appear to look disinterested or ‘lazy’.

In saying that, he does have genuine x-factor and can do some exceptional things when he’s on.

He had a stretch of games through 2021 where he was quite good (was pretty much best on ground against Gold Coast) but was then squeezed out and never really recovered from there. He does have a tendency to burst in and out of games, I think he could do with a big pre season to really get into premium condition.

In his games this year he just looked flat, lacked spark and was playing like a man who knew he wouldn’t make it long term at the club.

Way too good for VFL, looks a significant cut above. I expect he will be a top 5 ish DFA this off-season, much better player than the Brown brothers or SPS at his best (imo).

His time had run its course at KP and several went by him, it just didn’t quite work out.

I genuinely believe a change of scenery would do him well. Moving back home and having a fresh environment, could do very well.

Keys loves Geelong, Keys loves Geelong....
Well I’m just listening to Rendell blowing more smoke up Wells arse than a California bush fire about how fair he is to deal with. And all the while I’m thinking about the Kelly trade with an equivalent amount of smoke coming out my ears

So yes they’re shrewd but there also BODEs

Gunston on the Hawthorn to Brisbane trail

briztoon there goes your McStay compo unless you can orchestrate a trade for Gunston

Can anyone give me their thoughts on Quinten Lynch and Phil Narkle please?

Cheers.

Quinten Lynch - Lynch = Quinten ----- (1)
Phil Narkle - Phil = Narkle ------- (2)

Adding equations (1) and (2) we get
Quinten Lynch + Phil Narkle - (Lynch + Phil) = Quinten Narkle

One of footballs great misconceptions.

Sampi is the player that ended up on our list through the extra pick.

Yes, the priority picks were positioned as 1, 2, 3 but if removed the 4, 5, 6 would move to 1, 2, 3 and the Eagles still take Judd at 3.

Judd was the priority pick as that was the pick used on him. You can argue that if we didn't have the priority pick we still would have picked him anyway but that does not change what the actual pick used was.

Bloody hell, everyone wants to go to Brisbane. Do they not have a salary cap or something with all the free agents and father/sons that they'll be acquiring this off season?

Thanks - I will send this on to Mr Garlic at Cockburn

Narkle wouldn't cost fa would he?
A list spot is all

He’s been delisted so can be picked up as a DFA

Eastcoasteagle had the right idea to offer him a train on spot when the draft is done assuming we keep one spot open

The article states he is leaving as a FA! Let's hope it is paperwork lodged on Friday.

I am having real trouble seeing how Lions can fit all into the salary cap. I guess that will take them out of the Bowes deal unless they extend Bowes big time.

I wish they would take away the loophole clubs trading an unrestricted FA to avoid the compo dilution. Tarrant last year.

Anyway, a good move for Lions as Gunston offers a point of difference in the forward structure.
