Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.
Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

GWS did target Griffen months out - so you have to re-write the history of two clubs to take that stance, even if that did have any impact on a JHF trade (which I don't think it does).
We're getting way off track now. Port don't have a Griffen equivalent publically asking to get to North.

You questioned my assertion that Ryan was cooked when traded.

I provided the stats that show he went off a cliff in output, and a link and quote from a herald sun article that says he suffered a back injury and didn’t look the same all year.

It is relevant when posters are talking about Griffen to talk about the player Griffen was when traded.

so what port up for pick 8 future 1st and the Karl amon pick 27

Luke Ball was a previous pick 2 he slid to 30 in a draft because it was accepted that he had a contract and agreement with Collingwood and the same thing happened with Jacobs he had an agreement with North preceding the draft.
Yes, it does put clubs off - but the fact that Jacobs didn’t even crack 100 games also insinuates that perhaps a lack of quality was also at play.

Injury and head knocks was the reason for Jacobs not making 100 games.

He didn't reach his potential but I think he was better than the tagger North turned him into but we digress.

Xavier Duursma has no go home factor. His experience at Port Adelaide had his Victorian based sister nominating SA for the AFLW draft to come and play for Port.

Even with him being and out of the side this year.
With all due respect to North fans - which is a considerable amount - I am unsure why Duursma would go.

Port have already shown in the past what this will cost.

In 2018 they traded up to get Rozee at 5. In order to get 5 (and Sam Mayes), they essentially traded 11, 23, 30, 35 and 49, in a couple of trades with Freo, Hawthorn and Brisbane.

They probably need more than that, as I don't think they get him with Pick 5. Points value has its flaws but its a good gauge to see if a trade is in the range, and those picks cost 3582 points. Their 2 1sts and Sinn for a 2nd back would be similar to the value they put on Pick 5 back then.

This won't be a cheap trade for Port.

8 plus A future 1st max would doit.

8 plus Georgiades for Eagles pick 2.

Pick 2 should be enough for a player who has dropped in trade value.

Not cheap but doable.

IT'S IN MY SIGNATURE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I feel you brother, I got stuck with a PORT ADELAIDE SPUD as my nickname too :(

Again, off-topic - and again ignoring what both GWS considered him to be, and that he was still a playing at a high level 2014.
Perhaps start a thread if you feel so passionately about it, and leave this one for JHF discussion.

jhf seems to be a giant pain in the backside.
He's a spoilt brat, it's one of those players you almost want off your list because of the petulant and childish behaviour along with an attitude where he wants everything for nothing. If a club offered you two first rounders, you'd honestly say yes, make him someone's problem.

The afl has a huge problem with their draft system now

They don't. This one is all on North Melbourne and how much of a shitshow they were this year (+ the dollop of bad luck with their knight in shining armour immediately getting into scandal).

From Norths POV they should back themselves to keep JHF and also stay strong
From JHF's POV he has gone into a club going through a major rebuild and he has to deal with coaching uncertainty (the Clarko issue is a big part of this. we all know it)
For the SA clubs is just a about getting a good young player in.

If I am in JHF's position I am seeking a trade, I understand why he wants to do so.

The price tag is going to be massive

Not as much as you think or hope for Im beting.

He's not increased his value in the past 12 months its dropped.

The instability at North doesnt help and droping him for that SA game IMO wasnt smart.

If Port got and offerred pick 2 how could North argue its not enough?

You have offered a 19 year old 3.2 million over 4 years so clearly you think he is going to be Judd like .
Over 5. And even if it was just over 4 years. That's pretty similar to what Hawthorn are paying Amon. And what Gold Coast are paying Ellis. Things that the AFL said is band 3 compo.

Not in the ball park of a Judd like contract offer.
