And to think NM could have taken picks 4 last year, pick 5 this year and Melbourne's first this year (I think 16) from Adelaide for pick 1

Would think that would be a greater haul then what they will now get offered...

They’ll get 2 firsts for JHF and split pick one for a couple more,4 inside 20 would be a good start for them.

Don't blame them .

This honestly seems worse than Buckley leaving the Bears after only one season. I was one of the few who defended him and his character when everyone else was slinging mud at him about that run in with JSOS.

I was wrong.

Selfish, arrogant, self-entitled prat.

Cerra left Freo last year because he wanted to go home. We thought it was great as he came to us. Freo 2021 weren’t exactly great either.

Wouldn’t describe a player wanting to go home as selfish, arrogant, self-entitled prat.

JHF was always a flight risk, Adelaide knew it and offered North picks they refused. Hope North don’t get screwed by Port on the trade, but think they might.

If you are able, read Jon Ralph's article in the HUN about JH-F's exit from North, he cracked the sads at that club on a couple of occasions, from yelling at Goldstein at training and refusing to have an ice bath after the game..

Don't think they get screwed this year, he's contracted so they have every right to dictate the price.

If he stays, next year is when they may be screwed, if he still wants to leave.

The difference is Cerra always came across as a professional player who gave Freo his best week in and out.

JHF has been a bit a sooky unprofessional ******* since he arrived.

RE: Horne-Francis, if I were north I'd be asking Port to secure a much higher first round choice to pair with their future first, or secure another future first or second (i.e. projecting late first or early second).

He's a great player already, as has been Daicos.
I have my doubts re: Acres but a future 3rd is a great piece of business.

Get it done early and I’ll be very happy.
I mean I get why we want to skip the PSD if Freo doesn't want to release him into DFA, but can't help but feel we're being panicked into this a smidge.

Fingers crossed it's pick 50 or higher, but it's a strong draft.
So the newest Bowes sweetener is that that team that gets him will be allowed to spread his remaining salary over 4 years. It's a hell of a leg up for whoever he chooses.
I really hope we've been doing due diligence with that deal and talking to Bowes' management. He'd step into our team as a defensive or midfield option, so getting him on the cheap with a 4-year spread on the contract is just good business.

With Port desperate for JHF...

Could we use pick 10 to go shopping at Port?
Pick 10 - Butters
Pick 10 - 2x Sinn, Bergman or Duursma

Wouldn't have thought so, besides we are not allowed to trade our first rounder this year. .

(Log in to remove this ad.)

Why are we not allowed to trade our first rounder this year Elmer?

Cause we traded our First Round picks in the previous 2 seasons (for Saad and Cerra)

Clubs have to use at least one first round pick in a 3 year period.

Would love to get on the phone to Bergman for cheap but nobody else. He's a good damaging wing who can play Half back and Half fwd and can take a grab, still has a lot of filling out to do too. Other than that they'd all cost far too much in Salary to bother given the shape of our list.

It's 2 in 4.
We used 2 in 2019, we're all good.
Whilst this is true, it will hamstring future years because next year we will need to have 2 first round picks in the year (or cop the restrictions in place for teams who haven't met this threshold).

A player like butters would probably be worth it though.

He's a great player already, as has been Daicos.
I'm not sure anyone other than the most one-eyed North supporters would agree with you on this.

Very good young footballer, but he's nowhere near Daicos right now nor is he close to being a great AFL footballer.

Panicked? Are you having a laugh Jim?

Question the acquisition all you like, I certainly have, but there's absolutely no part of it that even closely resembles a panic buy.

Spot on a individual player has every right to prefer or opt to go home , it’s quite normal and reasonable behavior. It’s not entitled, as we all know one thrives when close to family structure, and any team the stands to benefit things it’s a great outcome for them.

JHF isn’t being called selfish, arrogant, self-entitled because he has asked to return to Adelaide to play his football (as is anyones right to want to go home), he is being called selfish, arrogant, self-entitled beeause he has acted selfish, arrogant, self-entitled from the moment he walked through the doors at Arden Street. Everyone and their Dog knew he was off the moment trade period started and that’s because he made that clear from as earlier as halfway through the year.

JHF is overrated

Pretty early call on that mate. I didn't watch many North games but he looked to me like a kid that didn't want to be where he was and as a pretty clear number one pick I'd be interested to see how he goes when he's at a club he's happy with and home before I made that statement.
