List Mgmt. 2022 Trade Thread - Part III

If I were Ratts I'd be pushing hard for it. It's good insurance incase one of Steele or Crouch go down. Also, despite having these players the last couple of years we haven't been dominating in the centre like we'd probably expect.

I wouldn't be banking on improved second years from last year's crop either.
Also allows for more Ross at Half Back like 2021 😂

But in all seriousness. If we got pick 8 for Hunter. I would do it.

We need a spud poll - options:

Zaine Cordy
Sam Weideman
Kyle Hartigan
Oscar McDonald
Hugh Dixon

Tough call!
Get them all

Destination club!

i think the strategy here is to:
1) keep rebuilding through the draft
2) try get absolutely elite players via trade. like matching winners.

the problem is these two things are often mutually exclusive, because the elite players want clubs that play finals and if you're playing finals you get dont get high end picks to really change your fortune from the draft.

theres talk we are banking picks for a raid next year. mitchell might help that.

Ratts may like as it as it could improve us short term and give him less pressure to keep his job

Long term though we aren't going to push for a flag unless we get the next crop of mids playing quality footy

Not sure why we wouldn't back our kids and expect to see improvement?

Smart move to load up for next years draft, still worth nabbing one this year too

So let me see if I have this right...

St Kilda vs Geelong, 2023. During the week leading up to the game Dougal Howard pings his hammy. The idea is that then we play Zaine Cordy on Tom Hawkins?

Okey dokey.

Would you rather Matthew Allison play on him?

I'd say it's better than an underdeveloped Oscar Adams who has a back injury history

Thought Cordy was around 28 years old. At only 25 I think it's a good shout and still scope for improvement.
It's not costing any draft picks and he definitely isn't as bad as some of you are making out

Yep, same age as Joyce.

We've replaced Joyce with someone just like him.

Saints fans: "Why arent we doing trades..waaaaaa!!"
Also Saints fans: "NOT HIM!!!!!"
This is so childish. We want decent players not absolute scraps off the pile. Can you not comprehend that this is the view of most of our sensible fans? Very poor attempt to mock. Try again.

Don't really understand the hate on Cordy,
25yr old played forward, back and in the ruck in there premiership year. 100 game premiership player
Do you watch him every week? If so you would see the hate. I have about 5 mates who are die hard Dogs fans and they all say he is absolutely rubbish.
Doesn't matter how many positions someone attempts to be good at if they suck at them all.

How many years have we been saying

If cost nothing and is only taking a list spot whats it matter

Its crap list management
It's embarrassing isn't it Mowman. It's the same people over and over as well. These people also wonder why we are stuck in mediocrity. Not very clever football brains.

If Cordy comes. he's essentially replacing Joyce, on a much bigger deal.

We're probably only breaking even when salary is considered.

Edit: insert SandraSully.jpg
On a much bigger deal?

I doubt he's going to be on a lot. Not sure the Dogs even had a contract offer in front of him

Surely it would be wiser to play Hunter Clark/Bytel in the guts for a year and see what they’re made off either way then pay Tom Mitchell 500k+ plus.

Not like we’re going to win the flag next year anyways.
Someone who gets it!

Lol the development of our midfield groups since 2010 is baffling in all honesty. We haven't been able to develop a group so we bring in established players, now we're looking at a midfield of Mitchell/Crouch/Steele/Ross, it's just horrible. What is so hard to understand for us? Stock up on picks and bring in a group of mids through the draft that have the ability to develop and grow together for 10 years.

Just do not understand the Mitchell stuff at all. Leave Steele and Crouch in there, play Ross as the defensive mid behind the stoppage and then rotate the young kids like Windhager, Owens, Nas, Byrnes through there while a player like Steele has the ability to rest forward.

It's almost as if we don't want to admit and commit to a full rebuild so we'll just keep topping up with players that won't be in our next premiership side. I don't really understand the benefit. I'm happy for a couple years of pain provided we're playing the long game and developing the list in a way that has worked historically for most sides.

I don't really care much for topping up with depth players like Cordy, guys that won't be regulars...but Mitchell will be a regular. I don't get those decisions.

Why everyone all uptight about Cordy getting blind pissed? 92% of AFL players get on the bics and dust most weekends, including our very own
We are uptight about him been bad at playing football. Couldn't care less if he got blind.
