TDK… Likely 5 on the bench…
TDK could rotate Fwd/Ruck and chop out in defence…
I still think it’s silly, we have two great forwards, neither ruck which is fine, if we add another forward, if they don’t or can’t ruck, it really limits flexibility. I like the sound of Keeler or any ruck who can actually be a threat up forward.
Nice pick up. Checked for him a couple of times through the year. Stopped looking. You found him. Low numbers, but two colts games then played reserves finals. Interesting. May need a body of work next year, but definitely a watch.Kid I like last year before doing an ACL. Luke Taylor, Sam's brother. Came back to the WAFL colts & reserves, kicking 6 goals in 4 games.
Can play both ends
Might be a worthwhile rookie/ssp option

He'll go pick 2 or 3.You could be right. I have no problem with Sheezel at pick 10, I am just not sure he is a top 5 pick.

Like a few have already suggested,
Be good if we could split our 10/29 picks and add another second rounder by trading out a future second/maybe some shuffling of later picks, If we don’t keep 10 i like these four around the 13-27 range, traits we need are speed skill/polish decision making/ball use 2way run/pressure & scoreboard damage would be good…
Hotton :forward - midfielder
George :forward
Hewett : midfielder
Burgiel : midfielder - forward
First round picks should be best available and only using positional needs if it is a borderline selection.I feel we have some depth in KP defence for 2023 (Weitering, Young, Marchbank, Kemp, SDurdin, Akui (developing), McGov & Plowman (3rd talls).
We need forward key position depth to develop and push through, so I would take one of Keeler or Lemmey with our second - forward/ruck.
Would be stoked if we drafted one at 2nd and one at 3rd.
Take the best available midfielder/runner at pick 10 - probably Humphrey/Pillipou/Hewett/George.
Take the best defender available with our 4th - depending on what is available.
There my thoughts.
What’s the knock on Phillopou?
190cm blokes that are quick don’t grow on trees so why’s he not top 3?

Often a good player can slide in a draft and who knows which player that may be for Carlton.
Pick 29 - Which will most likely be 31 or so on draft night....
Hustwaite, Weddle, Barrnett styled tall player may draft in the draft. If Allan dropped this far, certainly jump on board.
Darcy Jones or Hagan player that drops due to their height are also great options. Elite level footballers that are vertically challenged.
I was a big Liam Baker fan in his draft year and the only reason he dropped as far as he did was purely height related.
You could even say the same thing about Caleb Daniel as well, elite levels football players with height concerns.
Is he quick? What’s the knock on Phillopou?

Wouldn't say he's quick by any measure. He's a good runner in comparison but he's much more on the Cripps side of speed than a Bontempelli, Danger etc. Strong over the ball and a good kick but he's not the type who's going to stream away in open space. What’s the knock on Phillopou?

Nothing wrong with that, Pendlebury at Collingwood is a great example of that, good decision making and ball use by foot or hand is equally important.Wouldn't say he's quick by any measure. I think Philippou looks a tad slow with his decision making too, doesn't seem to play as much off instinct as for instance a Tsatas or Sheezel, but that could be down to all sorts of reasons. Has all the tools to be a quality player and even a top echelon mid/fwd if developed well... But I think in combination, a few of these factors are the reason he's not a top 3 prospect which is what the poster above posed the question about.Nothing wrong with that, Pendlebury at Collingwood is a great example of that, good decision making and ball use by foot or hand is equally important.
As he sheds down and adds to his explosiveness in the gym he'll probably gain that yard or two of pace and agility that he'd need to be a top line player. Similar to Cripps when he first came into the league.Although, does run a sub 3 sec 20 metres, for a 192cm guy, who will shed, then build a core, it's a nice starting point
Also, has a decent tank

Well can you give that a bit of thought? Apparently they are scouting bigfooty for ideas.Think he is gone earlier than that.
If I was doing a phantom draft, without Ashcroft
GWS Cadman
North Wardlaw
North Sheezel
* Tsatas
GC Hollands
Hawks McKenzie
Cats Clark
WC Busslinger
Saints, no idea what they do
Philipou has deficiencies and doesn’t make the cut for top 5, in fact I’ve seen him running away from a booze bus - only Carlton would take on a player like thatI think Philippou looks a tad slow with his decision making too, doesn't seem to play as much off instinct as for instance a Tsatas or Sheezel, but that could be down to all sorts of reasons. Cheers..Agree with DD, we need a draft a key position forward.
Well if that’s the case then , as long as he doesn’t play basketball socially, or use stairs, I’d be happy with himPhilipou has deficiencies and doesn’t make the cut for top 5, in fact I’ve seen him running away from a booze bus - only Carlton would take on a player like that![]()
Is he an AFL level midfielder is the real question. If not, what position will he play at AFL level?
Many of the guys rated ahead of him have a larger body of evidence to be able to play midfield. This is why Ginbey jumped up the order, he went for a HBF to dominating as an inside midfielder at higher levels.
Has better forward craft than Cripps, in fact he is a forward more than a mid
