I just think we rated our future first higher than we rated Phillipou. I don't see anything strange in it.

That being said, I'd still be interested if he slid and we could get him for 23 and a second.

I honestly don’t think the club has an interest in him. Apparently he is family are mad Power fans - is there another kind - and perhaps they indicated he would rather go interstate than play for us?

Not sure what it is but we don’t appear like we have looked at him at all

I remember Reid saying recently that they have the option of bringing in our 2023 1st rounder into this draft, and it was something 'they'd take a look at..'

Has anyone in that Pick 5-15 range even discussed trading out a 1st rounder this year, out of curiosity?

And yes, i know we don't currently have the list spots.

GWS have a few picks in that range - they will look to bundle and go higher or potentially would swap out with someone like us who would be expected to be pick 6-10 in next years draft

All I know is TAFKATMS who is one of the very few posters on this board that has been proven to have genuine inside info in the past from within the walls of the AFC has said all these supposed red flags etc were total bullshit.

If we're absolutely taking Max Michalanney and knowing from a fair way out pick 5 was on the table for Izak it's hard to see how we could get Phillipou without eating into next year's draft options?

Which suggests that we just aren't that in to him compared with 2023 options. Unless a trade involving our future 2nd and our current 2nd happens on draft night.

Where c

Where can we see his combine results?
His testing was v good , he’s not as fast over 20m as Verrall and his vertical leap isn’t as good but he ran a 3.1 20m which is good for a ruck and his 2km was excellent so he’s well prepared

Just not sure he’s worth a very early 2nd round

^Barnett

Thankyou. So what were Verrals numbers?

I doubt that's the case, though likelihood is we accepted we weren't going to be in a range to get Phillipou this offseason.

We'd definitely would have shown some interest, if not just to keep the door open to get him to move back to Adelaide in the future.

That would mean giving up our 2023 first.
No thanks.
So?..

We need young talent in now.. we need to stop putting it off and pushing it back for yet another year..

We should bring next years 1st into this year somehow.. and then next year bring our 2024 1st into 2023..

Then hopefully scotty welsh’s son keeps improving and tracking as he is… and 2024 will be our year to get a top 10 father son.. so we wont want that 2024 1st anyway if you know what I mean.

Why? Next year's first round pick will likely be a better player than Phillipou by all reports.

Plus it would remove our ability to trade the pick away for an established gun player if we were able to get one.

It would be a desperate move IMO.
Our best option was to split the 2022 first in Rankine trade but we didn't do that.

We dont even know what 1st round pick we have in 2023 yet… so its impossible to say if they could be better than phillipou..

Phillipou looks exactly what we need.. and he’s a south aussie lad.

We've got plenty of young talent to introduce over the next year if their form warrants it, much sooner keep our options open with our 2023 1st pick to see if we can attract some proven A grade mature talent in the right age bracket unless our guys really rate Phillipou as a special talent or for that matter any other player in this draft. If none are available then we look to draft in 2023.

If we aggressively approach an A grade mid, and don't have a 2023 first, what good does it do if we don't have anything to make the deal happen?

Phillipou going between 12-15 would mean clubs don't rate him as a special, A grade mid prospect.
