So was the red flags thing your opinion or a source?

Most of the best players have a lot of self belief
I wish a few more of our 1st rounders had this sort of confidence (excluding the past 2 years).

They encourage these kids to talk themselves up and sell themselves

Don’t see any real issue

Even the way he said it , he’s not saying he’s definitely the best player just that he’d back himself to get there

Nothing wrong with it if he backs it up on the track with hard work andgame day which he seems to do (but can also improve )

No red flag there for me … at all
It's only an issue if he actually thinks he's the best player and doesn't have the self awareness to realise he's not or has to improve

Yeah agree

If you look at his testing combine results it looks like he’s very motivated and presenting very professionally

Can’t let go of the fact he’s so young too

Fair enough, nobody will ever really know so we are just comparing the sizes of our dicks really.

Hamish would know though
The key point is what sort of red flag would be involved. If, for example, he is a mad Port barracker and would go back to them after 2 years, a la JHF, then that would be a red flag, perhaps.

Awesome. Good for him. Maybe he's just not telling you the full story.

I'm really not phased that you proclaim Hamish to be your source. In fact, it makes it quite a lot more amusing from my point of view.

Not bothered. If Mr Phillipou wants to pick a fight, he can go elsewhere. Doesn't change the fact that I've been told what I've been told. Twice
Mr Phillipou? Cmon, I've been here longer than this kids been playing football.

Such a cheap and easy shot

I dont know your experiences.. but in my nearly 50 years on this planet I’ve found that the people most confident in their ability, and who’s abilities actually back this up, are those who dont talk themselves up to others…

And the “big noters” who talk themselves up and clearly feel the need to tell everyone how good they are normally always turn out to be the poor performers who are insecure about their actual abilities..

The exception of this being fighters (boxers, mma etc) but half of their big noting is showmanship, mind games and a bit of bluff…
In general life I agree with you for sure

But I know for a fact ( and you hear it often ) they encourage these kids to talk confidently and positively about themselves

Every year they compare themselves to superstars of the game etc … it’s just part of the draft , not sure who drives it whether it’s media or player managers or clubs

But I didn’t mind the way he said it … basically that he’s not necessarily everyone’s no 1 pick or choice as the best player but he would back himself in to be that guy

The AFL are trying to hike the TV ratings for Draft Night ......talk the draftees up, get supporters super excited

Problem starts if the hype doesn't match reality ......the kids are really setting themselves up for additional pressure / scrutiny

BTW ....the two biggest self promoters I was aware of, were Modra & Bruce Linder

Nothing wrong with letting people know what you’ve heard
I'll summarise

There were purported red flags, I said the crows are very much in to him.

I'd be interested to hear about how many meetings there have been between the parties, where the meetings have been and what the general consensus has been.

No doubt he's confident and driven, if they are red flags then it's not really a surprise we are where we are.

I doubt there are red flags personally
