Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.
Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

Will he improve you?

I mean it’s a big risk for a kid who has shown nothing other than beating up a league which even Graham Cornes can do well in.

Please.

McKernan shits all over him.

Rising star, and Brownlow and MVP, premiership player and should have been Norm Smith in 1996… will Jason have that sort of resume by 21?

Haha please get your hand off it.

He’s also behind LDU in terms of talent.
Is it the same risk that your team took last year (based on what you turned down for him)?

Can you explain why playing well in the SANFL is not considered the equal of playing VFL U-18’s?

Did Jason downplay his injury/condition until he was sure he could get home and get the long contract locked away?

Port now discovering the main problem with Jase wasn't North, but Jason himself, with a big dash of Fabian Francism

Yeah, right, ok.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.

All that’s being discovered is that North are a shambles of a team, mismanaging players physical health now apparent.

Maybe, just maybe guys, Jason wasn't completley honest with North about his injury, just as he wasn't honest about his contract intentions.

It's obvious now why he wasn't keen on doing his ice baths, they would have killed. But instead of explain why, he was happy to wear the crap including being dropped.

Port's whining reaction that we "mismanaged" his condition screams to me that they only found out about it once Jason and Fabian had signed the six year deal.

Time to consider that they played Port just as hard as they played us.

“When the club committed to pursuing Jason during the Trade Period, we were made aware he had been managing ongoing, at times debilitating, pain in both calves and feet throughout the 2022 season," Port's head of medical services Tim O'Leary said.”

Yeah so a direct quote here that says your hypothesis is bullshit.

Also..

Our subsequent investigation revealed he had significant compression of the arteries in the back of his knees, causing blockage to the blood flow to his lower legs.

"Following consultation with numerous specialists, and consideration of the advised options as to how to treat the issue, we decided it was best for Jason's health, and ongoing football performance, that he have the surgery now to release the pressure on the arteries and restore normal blood flow to his lower legs.“

North would have obviously known about this, it’s absurd to suggest otherwise, and they chose not to put him into surgery before the end of the season.

They mismanaged him, and north fans blaming jhf look like even bigger idiots than before.

Yeah so Port openly say that AFTER committing to pursuing Jason they were "made aware" of the problem.

You do know that quote literally proves my point right?

But we all know Jason had made his mind up to leave well before that and that Port had been tapping him up for months. Almost like some form of karmic justice for your crappy behaviour hey.

Looks like Jason and Fabian got the commitment from you guys saying of yeah he's been playing sore, walked out on North and then went oh yeah actually its way worse now.

Plenty more drama where Jason's concerned for you guys to look forward to.

A shambles is handing a player a 6 year contract without doing a physical. Maybe look closer to home on this one.

Lol * off.

You said this

“Port's whining reaction that we "mismanaged" his condition screams to me that they only found out about it once Jason and Fabian had signed the six year deal.”

My quote from ports head of medical services as per afl.com article said

“When the club committed to pursuing Jason during the Trade Period, we were made aware he had been managing ongoing, at times debilitating, pain”

As I said, that proved your stupid hypothesis wrong.

You claimed port found out after signing a deal as jhf was trying to pull a fast one.

Childish crap from north fans as usual

Too busy congratulating themselves on how clever they were.

Reminds me of this scene.

Look I get you're angry that Jason lied to you and dudded you, but no need for such an angry offensive language.
Angry? I’m telling you to * off because you’re posting bullshit that was disproved with less than 5 mins of research.

Angry .. lol take a look at north fans behaviour regarding jhf. Telling him to go kill himself. Look at david kings behaviour.

Read the article above. Clearly states that we knew about it well before signing him.

Wish people would do 5mins of research before stating stuff as facts

No it doesn't.

It says:

When the club committed to pursuing Jason during the Trade Period, we were made aware ...

That says you committed to him and were made aware of the problem.

The committment had been made, then the info came.

Jason and Fabian played you, just like they played us.

It would be funny if it weren't already hilarious, comedy gold, rib tickling, uproarious, worthy of entry at the Edinburgh Festival etc.

You really lack basic comprehension

You said after we signed Jason.

The quote talks about the decision to pursue a trade for Jason.

At that point we are in no way locked into a contract with Jason and how would Jason and Fabian in your wild scenario be able to pull a fast one over us when we know but there is no signature?

You made a dumb claim, I disproved it. Suck it up and stop trying to conjure up wild conspiracy theories.

Occam’s razor being that the team with a paper thin budget medical department mismanaged a players injury.

Remember when the Port spin was we should have known his attention to detail was poor and he was bad at following up on physio and stuff?

Now the spin is its our fault he's landed on them with this condition.

But you guts KNEW he wasn't the type to follow up on his physio etc!

El Oh El.

Your own quote uses the word "committed".

You'd committed to him that you'd pursue the trade.

Once he got the commitment he told you about his injury lol. Then once the paperwork was dry you investigated it and discovered how bad it was.

He played you.

We were made aware of it and traded him in regardless.

It's just a shame North has pathetically low standards and a medical team who clearly cant look beyond "just have an ice bath mate".

He's clearly been playing through pain all year and the morons at your club want to pot him for a lack of heart, he showed more heart and fight this year than anyone else who pulled on the jumper.

Time to look forward to what he can do when he isn't playing through pain and being held back by injury.

I hope Jason’s pain from stenotic popliteal arteries settles. It is truly a painful condition. Truth is even in the best scenarios it is never back to normal despite stents. He will be on blood thinners as stents like to clot. He won’t play at the elite level or ever again I feel. North dodged one, port lost 4.8 million bucks, a huge dent in the cap for the next 6 years.
This will trigger a mass Exodus of players due to more lucrative and fitting offers from rival clubs like North, Hinkley will go soon, the club will revert to a glorified hot dog stand vendor.

Tell me your salty without telling me your salty....

To me this means the kid has even more upside.

His trade value was impacted because of his exposed form at the top level, which was decent but not outstanding for such a prized pick.
Now we know there was an injury that held him back. This now looks like an absolute steal for Port.

With this now being addressed, we should now see what JHF is capable of.

If they can get him 100% committed to his career he will be that franchise player that every club coverts.

Exciting times for Port next year to see how he progresses.
