Of course they did, look at the three options they were presented with.

And why stop at 5 ??

Lets make it 10 or 15.

There are 40+ on a list, surely everyone gets a gig .... do you want selection based on talent,
why not in alphabetical order ?

A game played by 18 is now played by 23 .....

Like a heap of AFL cobbled together on the run and in haste rules, the sub rule has become a farce, there's no effort to make sure it was a genuine injury, players are subbed off because of fatigue.

Five means clubs will probably play two ruckman again. The bigger the bench the more it suits strong clubs as their fringe players are higher quality than ship teams.

Just eff it off and go five if you have to, but absolutely no complaining about 4 vs 5!

Agreed. We should have offensive lines, defensive lines, and special teams, and a spare for every one of them. If we dont have 80 man lists by 2024 we have done everything wrong.

+1 for five man bench and unlimited interchanges

And put a running track around the outside, and turn the game into a race. No room in the game any more for guts, for tactics in lasting, for playing pure footy, get rid of unpredictability, get rid of the TEAM ethos just make it a ******* running race.
