Don't agree with this. He showed enough of it early days but you could see that it was coached out in favour of maintaining structures in support of the premier mids.
I disagree, to me he’s never showed anything, yet been given every opportunity to excel.

We managed him to the point he wouldn’t have been selected in a div 5 ammos midfield. Now he’s a decent AFL level backline player, I just can’t see how the coaches aren’t heavily involved in how average he became. When he’s hunting the ball, I reckon he’s pretty good.

that has nothing to do with spatial awareness but you raise a point maybe hes half blind and doesnt know it
I wasn’t commenting on spatial awareness, you mentioned lack of game involvement, it’s because he doesn’t know how to find the footy.
People need to stop making excuses for him.
If he doesn’t turn it on this year he’s toast.

He reminds me a bit of Shaun Atley

Drafted early, they hoped he'd be a dynamic line breaking midfielder

Instead they found he could only play a very limited role, had to be behind the football. Existed in the game and contributed but never reached any great heights.

I remember early days when people were claiming he was a Chris Judd like player.

Never made sense then either

The annoying thing is you can find players like him in the rookie or mid season drafts (see Parnell, Brodie Martin, Sam Colquhoun, etc). Those players come and go.

For us it seems like a sunk cost scenario - we invested so much in him and can't seem to let it go. Compare to McAsey where we appear to have already decided we aren't wasting any more games on him.

Sadly the player I see in Chayce is Richard Tambling. Elite junior and the weapons are there but just can't translate it to senior footy

Good day Crows supporters. I wasn’t sure where to share this in the forum, so I thought this would be a good spot.

I'm an American footy fan and podcaster (A Yank on the Footy). I've had a small thread in the podcast section of Big Footy for a few years. While we are mired in the offseason, I am working to set up some discussions with supporters that want to discuss their most memorable game. If you're interested, please consider reaching out to me at ayankonthefooty@gmail.com. My first episode of this series (recalling a game from 1973) is out now.

Cheers,

He has no football IQ.

Aside from playing nothing alike, Tambling was far, far more hyped as an elite prospect.

Jones was never in the ball park of the sort of prospect Tambling was thought to be. Not even in the same post code

Based on what?

He kicked a goal after the siren against Port from a free kick he didn't earn.

Dawson and Doedee just scream vanilla captains to me. A 3rd tall and a half back flanker as Captains. Meh.
That’s bullshit. He was closest to the ball when Murph got polaxed.

I think its the farthest thing from bullshit you will find.

Being closest to a free kick does not mean you earned the free kick.

Lachlan Murphy earned the free kick.
He “earned” it because he was the closest to Murphy. They are the rules.
