Apologies. He was under 22 for a single game this year and had 11 possessions.
Under 22 counts until the player turns 23, and I know he didn’t have a good year this year but his 2021 form is still as good as anyone else his age and under on the clubs list

Im aware of the stupid AFL definition but it doesnt mean we need to.

If the AFL says up is down we dont need to blindly accept it.
Adding to this it would mean the Hawks would include Dylan Moore who is younger than TT and also has the form.

Who is each teams top 5 players under 22?

Essendon's are probably - Nic Martin, Sam Durham, Ben Hobbs, Archie Perkins and a battle between Nic Cox, Zac Reid &/or Harrison Jones

With the return of Wingard and Brockman hopefully fully fit I can’t see butler in our best 22. I think he has potential but he looked below the top level last season. He needs a full season in the VFL. I think brockman has a much higher ceiling and I would play him over Butler currently.

Our round 1 forward line next season will most probably look something like this..the loss of Gunston is going to hurt as there is no replacement. Serong is minimum 2 years off playing consistent senior football. Jeka is better than Koschitzke but is now a defender.

HF: Macdonald Koschitzke moore
FF: Breust Lewis Wingard (brockman bench)
You forgot Greene. He is a replacement for Gunner. Not as talented but will be a solid pickup at least until Serong develops to the level required. Realistically we are 1 key forward short. Kosi is not the answer. We really need Jeka to come on as a forward to support Lewis. If Lewis gets clean air he will kick 50 goals at least this year at a minimum. Blanck, Sicily DGB/Frost should be the key defensive stocks moving forward.

Zero chance this happens. Coaches love him, particularly Sam and they will be pushing as many senior games into him as possible.

Okay, if we go from '99, here's our top four for each position (not including Wardlaw and Sheezel):

DEF: Scott, Perez, Young, Goater
MID: LDU, TT, Powell, Phillips
FWD: TT, Paul Curtis, Sleevo, Taylor

Who are you putting forward?

Don't think we should put players in 2 positions.

My go at Hawthorn's version of this (which is a tricky cut off as nearly a third of Hawthorn's current list was born in '98, mostly late in the year, meaning a number of first choice players for this exercise missed the cut off by a few weeks/months - e.g. Mitch Lewis, Jack Scrimshaw, Ned Reeves, etc.)

Def - Jiath, Day, DGB, Morris (Blanck, Jeka)
Mid - Newcombe, Ward, Stephens, Maginness (Worpel, Long, Ramsden)
Fwd - Moore, MacDonald, Brockman, Kozi (Serong, Butler, Mitchell)

A fully fit Brockman or Butler?? I'm going with Brockman. We need X-Factor. Butler will be a very good player, but doesn't have the x-factor class as Brockman imo... We can't play all of Breust, Wingard, Brockman and Butler... There's also Moore, who despite playing more midfield, will start as a high half forward..There's also Connor MacDonald, who plays a similar role. He won't be ready to play full time mid until 2024. One of Butler and Brockman will miss out each week.

Both will be given games if they’re doing what’s required of them at Box Hill, just like DGB, Day, MacDonald and Ward were, as Sam wants to get games into the recent draftees.

No side as young as ours is ever fully settled, so it’s completely unlikely that Butler or Brockman are locked in at Box Hill for the year anyway.

Great work..can players be 25 or do they have to be under?

  • Amon is 27- Move Maginness to a wing and Emerson Jeka (21) to the bench
  • Greene will be 25 before round 1 next season
  • Meek will be 25 round 3 or 4.. Max Lynch (24), can replace him if have to be under 25

I think Peter Wright is too old, he is older than Dawson, Doedee, Keays and Hardwick.

Agree with sentiment above. Wouldn't consider Wright in that group. And probably highlights a bit of an issue with KPF depth.

With footballers now playing well into their 30s, May as well move the cut from 25 to 29.

Seems to rise here each year anyway with posters squeezing in players.
