Way too hard too many good players miss out. Riewoldt, Rance, Franklin, Leppitch, Wanganeen, Matera, Fyfe, Pavlich , Black, Goodwin, Pendlebury, Swan, Cox, Kerr, Cousins, Johnson, Lappin, Goodes, Hird, Crawford, Long, Bradley, Hurn, Shaw etc etc

Taylor gets very very underrated in these discussions I reckon. Had some huge games on Riewoldt and was impassable at times
Taylor vs Riewoldt was one hell of a duel.

Also Chapman gets underrated in these discussions too, Bloke was best big game players.

36 :) Don't remember Plugger, Dunstall, Big Gaz etc., sadly
I’m 39 so Matera, Wanganeen and McLeod just made it into mine but really only because I can recall them all having big performances in grand finals.

As a kid in WA I wasn’t into footy enough to watch interstate teams play home and away games so those three you mentioned didn’t get considered in mine either. Not much doubt they’re probably better than at least three of the players in my team as well.

Yeah Matera almost made mine to be honest over Milne, but I decided I didn't see most of his career.
I only just remember the 92 Premiership. I remember really loving the Eagles at that age,

It's amazing how many times I have seen Buckley on a list, but not Hird.
It's very clear to me how much the saga has impacted his legacy as a player.
It was always Voss = Hird > Buckley. Now suddenly Hird is at the back of the list.
Unfortunate.
Still ahead of Buckley in my eyes.
But neither made my team, but least Hird crossed my mind as a possible.
If I'd only been watching since early 90's I could have found a spot for him but I been watching every season since 1978 so I have a lot more players I seen to chose from. He should be in teams for people that only been watching from the 90's though.

It's like me not seeing Barry Cable. I did see the 77 grand final as a kid and I know he was star of 70's but vague memories of one match was not enough for me to include him. Wish I'd seen more to see how good he was.

Yeah, my father in law talks about Barry Cable like he was the king, it's a good idea to only put players that you saw the brilliance of.
It's strange for me seeing the lists without Carey and Hird, then I realise that Reiwoldt and Dangerfield are there because they didn't get to see them play.
Very jealous of some of the guys you got to see! I wanted to put Paul Salmon in there so badly, because he high fived me once as a kid and it made me fall in love with footy, I just didn't see him in his prime.

For a short period of time Paul Salmon was like a phenomenon.
Season 1984 he seemed unstoppable at one point because he was a 205 cm and over 100 kg full forward. That was too tall for the type of players that played full back then. This was the era where great full backs like Geoff Southby, David Dench and Kelvin Moore had been the standard of full backs for era that had gone before and he would have well over 10 cm's over all of them and sometimes 16 cm's over our Southby and near 30 kg's too. If a man that tall can mark and kick goals most teams do not have a match up to stop him if ball kicked in air for him to mark. Like he taller and weigh more than Harry McKay now but most full forwards back then were more like 188 to 193 cm's, not well over 200 cm's. Opening six rounds of 1984 he had a run of 7, 7, 8, 4, 5 and 8 goals.

Damn, this is tough. I'm looking at from 1988 which was when I started watching footy. So many great players. I think my reserves team could beat the A-Team. Anyway, here is my best "Team", not necessarily my best 22 players, but best team. No donkey in here.
