Congrats to turner.

Daniel Howe did he do that

This needs a major overhaul
All clubs do is recycle their primary listed players on to it…it should be designed to taking fresh players only…not redraft the same guy from one primary list to the rookie list

It’s farcical
Just get rid of the list. Make the primary list 42-44 spots and make the Cat B list the "rookie list".

I was just commenting on our club board. That the rookie drafts gets more boring each year. It has become a Recycled Player or Pass Draft.

Don't know why clubs bother resigning someone that they have cut, or who has been cut by another team. Very rarely does a recycled player bounce back into a best 22 regular, they were cut for a reason. I would personally prefer to take a shot at and put effort into a kid with upside.

Actually, it is more of a salary / list spot dump these days. Clubs use it for tactical reasons.

I am staggered that Ethan Phillips wasn't selected in the national or rookie drafts. Surely he's good enough to be on a list, even as a rookie for worse case.

Bare in mind the SSP period is coming

Rookie has a meaning & its not the AFL version.

If the club is redrafting someone it’s usually a contract mechanism/issue - which is to say that they’ve been kept as they’re still contracted but the club wants free space on their main list.

That’s a hangover of the list crunch still too I think. Essendon does its best to have 45-47 players every year, but now it has to do it through injury replacements and the SSP instead of the draft.
