the GD is only now equal now that its 4-2 Germany which now means if Spain somehow sxore next couple mins Germany go through on GF. When it was 3-2, Japan still had superior GD.

Germany's Goals for would be the next tie breaker

Spain vs Japan 2-2 would have bumped Japan down to 4 points and 0 GD. Germany finished with +1.

That would have seen Spain and Germany through.
