Opinion Top 50

Could be wrong of course, but I'm guessing it's because he thinks there are at least 50 players who are better than Sicily.

Or it was an oversight.
Hang on, you actually think Sicily is not a top 50 player?

Yikes.

Huh? Where did I say that?
You didn’t, but you “lolled” at my post suggesting it was likely an oversight. Wasn’t quite sure how else to take that reaction.

Thought I would have a crack and it’s a lot harder than I thought. I’m sure I’ve missed some and open to changes so let loose on me (never doubted).

It's a fair list but you should be swapping Oliver with Petracca. Most dees fans rate Oliver higher, including the coaches.

I just don’t rate Oliver’s damage as much as Petracca, I see Oliver as a Dane Swan more gets alot of it is tough and smart but he doesn’t break lines and hit the scoreboard and have that polish like a Petracca who I see as a Dangerfield.

I'll have a go. I generally have a slight weighting towards guys that are low possession but high impact. i.e. guys like Bolton, Papley, C.Cameron, Fritsch etc. a I generally feel that they're underrated types. Dusty is down the list just because he's missed a lot of footy. I don't watch Weitering closely so I didn't put him in.

that's what most neutrals think and that's understandable. But I'd say 9 out of 10 dees fans rate Oliver higher. Petracca was the most inaccurate kick for goal in 2022. 19 goals from 65 shots. It's a major weakness of his that costs us week in, week out. Petracca has no polish. Oliver is also quicker than Petracca. Oliver is twice as good at getting clearances and much cleaner with the ball in hand.

I agree with the low possession high impact. But damn even I don't have Papley close to that high. That's a big call.

Like the Gulden call, didn't put him in but he's almost like the David Silva of the AFL.

You also have Rozee twice.

I liked OP’s list better because it had more Essendon in it, There for it’s a poor list!

I was tempted to put Oliver at 1 but no-one would read my list if I put Oliver at 1 being a dees supporter lol. Cripps is lower because I don't rate him defensively and he was a poor lateral step. He also had a quiet 6-8 week period last year. There's also a big difference between his best and worst for me. McKay above Curnow for me, only because he demands the bigger defender. Also probably because I'm a dees fan and we have no genuine key forwards so if I had to choose between the 2 I'd pick Mckay. Maybe also Curnow kicking 3 goals 9 behinds in the last 2 weeks of the year essentially kicked Carlton out of the finals and that's still fresh in my mind.

Surprised not to see the unicorn on the list.

I was told of his impact, generational talent and had the best draft value ever now he can’t even crack your Top 50.

Jeremy Cameron at number one is a joke mate. So is Jordan Ridley and no Grimes or Vlaustin . No Daniel Rioli. And Bolton is easily top 6. Guthrie shouldn't be on the list either.
